Boys, I just got the 86 WH1 T-Type from my dad 2 weeks ago and it needs a few tasteful mods. Nothing that I can't put back later. The car is bone stock except for a 7 year old ATR exhaust that needs to be replaced. The car has 65K miles and runs flawlessly and has lived on full synthetic oils it whole life. What parts do you guys think would fit me nicely. Price and ease of install are high factors becuase I'm not on a healthy budget after I get the car painted. Basically, I'll have around $1000 to play with. Shoot me some ideas!!!!!!!

You need to do a Spring Cleaning as Per www.gnttype.org.

The first mods you need to do are to the fuel system. Get yourself an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Walbro 340 fuel pump and hot wire kit. Then I would get a scanmaster, and a good chip. From there you can SAFELY tune it and turn up the boost:) After that maybe injectors and an alky kit. Congrats on the new car!

Do a search on this and you will find a billion posts on this exact subject

Striker_29 is right on the money. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump are "safety" items IMO to keep from blowing a head gasket.

Fuel pump - $150 but I saw one used on the board for $75
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator - $150
Hot wire kit - $50

Additional items that would put your car in the 12's:

3 inch downpipe - Terry Houston - $450
Chip - $50 - $200

At this point you would be in the 12s.

All of these parts can be taken back off in a weekend. I did it. I went 12.84 without a downpipe on street tires with the above mods.

Here are some used parts that are cheap that you could benefit from. The persons id is m233roller.

XP FUEL PUMP less than 4.000 miles $75.
42.5 BOSCH INJECTORS less than 4,000 miles $150.

The other person to talk to for Parts is Mike McKoy.

I also have an 86 WH1 car.
