i have a 200-4R with a stage right brake. i find it difficult to shift up through the gears with the stock shifter..

is anyone running a aftermarket shifter? what model?
idealy id like to keep the stock console and shifter plate. id like to just change the shifter.

is it even worth going to a aftermarket one?

The general consensus on this board is just to let the car shift itself......but if you want to bang through the gears, you will need a manual valvebody in the trans, and a hurst quarterstick. You can go to Mark's website and get a replacement overlay to fit the shifter.

I'm not sure what shifters you can fit under the stock console, but whatever one you choose you do not need a manual valvebody.

Christophah. With the stageright you engage the brake by pulling the shifter into first. This requires shifting the trans at least out of first to launch and that can be tricky with a stock shifter coming off of a brake.

thank you. atleast im not alone on my thought.
i was thinking some sort of ratchet shifter would be the best.

If you do a search on ratchet shifters there should be plenty of info. You might try searching just in the transmission forums.

We have used many B&M Megashifters with the stageright set up. Works good if installed correctly, and fits nicely in the console.:)

same here! I also have a megashifter in the other car. I like the quick silver better.

Does the lighted gear selector still work with this shifter? Any problems with the install? Trimming of the stock plate? I'm thinking of installing one before the Midwest Challenge. Of course we all want pics too.
Thanks Bryan

Lighted gear indicator works with mine. You will have to do some triming under your console to fit around the shifter. I am using the factory console overlay/aplique. It looks clean and factory with the chrome handle and knob. I had to raise and level the shifter with spacers/washers until I felt the shifter handle was high enough and felt comfortable. The hardest part will be installing the nuts on bolts that hold the shifter down w/tranny in the car. I did it that way until I could get studs welded in place of the bolts.

Thanks for the info!! I am going to get one on Tuesday which is when my car comes back from the tranny shop---getting Art-Carr-ized.

I put a B&M Pro-ratchet in the car, didnt want to modify the factory plate incase of going back to the stock stuff, so I just made one up, and covered it with a piece of Carbon fiber paper. Man this shifter is awsome!!! You can slap gears with all your might, and your not gonna miss a shift, or go into neutral/reverse until lock-out lever is moved. All the factory stuff can be put back in in under an hour.

Mind the little mess in the back round, playing around

How hard is it to install the Quicksilver? All this talk has me interested.

I don't know if it's common on all GNs or just a problem with mine but my shifter has always been sloppy coming out of manual 1st, I can hardly ever hit 2nd when I want to, it always slips past to Drive.

Also if anyone has a picture of it installed I'd like to see.

I'm interested in the megashifter, but want to remove the console completely and use the B&M one. Has anyone done this?? It seems every search I do, they integrated it into the console.
