First, I would like to say hi to all of you, I just bought my first GN a few weeks ago, and couldn't be happier.
Here is my situation: I have about 1,700$ give or take 300, to spend on my GN at the moment. I HAD already decided what turbo I was going to get, what fuel injectors, and all that good stuff. But after reading a little bit, and seeing different people's responses, I am having second thought about the turbo I am choosing. My goal was to make a fast DD, and ultimatly, take a Cobra(buddy has one, long story)
Here is my current setup:
87 GN
bored out throttle body
stock heads just bored out a little
new timing chain and gaskets
new turbo inlet bell
373 posi
rebuilt tranny
some chip the owner before me put on, and a pitbull one on the side
it has the stock dual exhaust, and a gutted cat
I do believe it has and adjustable wastegate
My proposed setup:
TE44C turbo
42 1/2lb injectors
Poston's HP fuel pump
Poston's HP fuel regulator
Duttweiler intercooler neck
I've called Postons and Kirban, and they both recommended the 44C to me, but after seeing a few people say that the 44c was a great turbo, but couldnt wait for bigger, gets me kinda sketch on it. From my point, if I'm going to drop 770$ on a turbo (Im 17,so thats a LOT of money to me) I better be buying a turbo that Im not going to want to replace in a few months or a year.
What would you recommend? Stay with my current setup? Or look into a bigger turbo?
In all honesty, I searched, and I didnt go through every thread, but I looked at anything that would potentially be helpful. And I do see that thread below me regarding these two turbo's, but it doesn't address a money issue, or from where to start. I apologize if this was an inconvinience.
Thank you with much appreciation,
-Tyler
