What are the desirable years and applications for transplants into non LS based cars?

They started in 1997 in cars and 2000 or 01 in trucks. The 6.0 truck block is what all the builders were using because it was an iron block. But the lsx block came along and the builders went nuts.

97 vettes got ls1's the camaros got them in 98

'97 in Vettes- the 5.7 liter LS1. this is the reason they are called "LS" engines even if there is no "LS" in their engine code.
'98 in F bodies- same engine as in the Vettes.
'99 in trucks in 4.8. 5.3, and 6.0 versions... none of which had "LS" in their engine codes..
