How about ALKYCONROL with a 6 gallon fuel cell!! A special thanks goes out to Julio at ALKYCONTROL.COM. I purchased his methanol injection kit a little over a year ago and have loved every minute of it. Now that the the GN is hooked on meth I had to figure out a way to feed it's habit.:D
With a phone call to Julio he was more than happy to help me with this project. All that was needed is a now discontinued Metco 6.2 gallon fuel cell, an in tank fuel sending unit, relocation of the pump and now we are injecting methanol with fewer fill ups in between.
Now that the spare tire location has something functional in it we can play for long durations without having to refuel.

Julio, Thank you again!

I was thinking of getting that tank from him but decided against it. good luck and let us know how it works.

Not sure I understand your question. Are you referring to the fuel cell in trunk or that the fuel cell is filled with methanol?
The fuel cell in the trunk. Are there any rules that need to be met?

fuel cell , which it is since its carrying methanol , requires a full sealed firewall between trunk and passenger compartment

with the metco spare tire well tank you can avoid having to do the seatback pkg shelf firewall by installing a metal cover over the well which been done before and with a new capet cut to fit you'd never know it was there ,

This has been one of the neatest things I have done to my car. Yesterday for the first time I topped off the ALKY tank and it was weird to empty an entire 5 gallon jug of methanol and the fuel cell was still not full so I reached for my second 5 gallon jug to top it off. Needles to say I have more than enough ALKY to hold me over for awhile.
The only concern I had at first was it took a few extra seconds for the alky to reach the engine. Razor sent me a check valve and now you would never know the line was any longer than the original kit.
Well it is now time to go play!;)

Thank you for the compliments guys. As usual Julio was the brains behind the entire install and layout. I consulted with him via email and phone calls to make sure everything would go smooth. His kit never misses a beat and now I have the security of knowing that there is plenty of go go in the tank.

I am still working on a location and display for the controller to make it look clean and as close to factory looking as possible. If anyone has unique installs of their controllers please post.

Thanks,

Shane

What was the cost of doing this I have the kit installed already but im with you the 6gall cell in the trunk would b sweet.

Nice job

The cost is not really the question here. The question is where do you find a Metco 6 gallon fuel cell. Metco only made 500 of these and they are becoming very hard to find. There should be members on this board who still have them. The best thing to do is post a thread in parts wanted section and see if anyone has one stored in the attic or shop. The only expense beside the tank is the extra line needed to run from the pump to the engine.

Someone had mentioned to me that Brian at GBodyParts.com Online may have some in storage. This would be a starting point.

You could use any fuel cell in your trunk if you do not mind it getting in the way.

Good luck and let me know how the search goes.

Shane

It's a very cool setup but why do you need so much alky? Just wondering... I only use about a gallon of methanol a month. 5 lbs of extra liquid adds about 40 extra lbs to the car. Paul

We have some here. Not cheep this was from the second run Retail was $299.00 on them when they were available.

Looks good, I'm just building a custom housing to hold a 2.5 gallon gas can securely in the trunk in case I have a brainfart and let the reservoir run dry.

It is just a sick addiction.:D I wanted to carry a six month supply at all times. I always carried a 2 gallon back up in my trunk anyway so I thought what the hell let's just get a fuel cell and I do not have to refill the front tank. It is not that I had to do this mod, I wanted to and so far it has exceeded my expectations.

I agree, was there a way to have the low alky sensor in the fuel cell or does it come with its own sensor built in?

That is where it is good to have vendors like "RAZOR" aka Julio at ALKY CONTROL give a hand in the project. I cannot take credit for this setup as Julio was the true brains behind this. If you are interested and you are using his kit give him a call and he can point you in the right direction. I am the kind of person who does not like to work outside the parameters of a well engineered kit like Julio's without consulting with him first.
If you are truly interested give him a call and he will get you up and running successfully.

Due to my own "needs" and also due the current lack of coolant overflow tanks I thought I'd dig up this 2 year old thread.......

Thanks to Dreamcar86 for being the guinea pig for this conversion! I bought the Metco fuel cell last year and finally got around to installing it over the last few weeks. I had an issues with the built in tank fitting (aluminum rather than brass that was spec'ed)......but Metco made things right and are now aware of the issue. Razor hooked me up with everything I needed (tech support as well) to get it up and running. There is no noticeable difference with the pump and tank at the rear. It was worth doing, for me, just to have a season's supply of alky after one fill-up. The engine compartment is a little neater (no "extra" overflow bottle) as well. Love it!

All I have to do is install a rear firewall and I'll be all set. Not sure yet if I am going to just cover the fuel cell or install a firewall behind the rear seat/package shelf.
