Wow, a simple question gets into a lot of BS. I think the original question was answered by people that have used all types. Remember Red A. ran low 10's with a Stretch IC and street tune cars. I ran a FMIC and my coolant ran in the 160* temps on the HWY and 168* in traffic. So it can be done with the right coolant package. Sure it is much easier to get to the front of the engine with a FM but most pure street cars run a stock mounted one. Your choice and money but consider the pros and cons of each type. Gene PS. They make a cantilever style over the engine platform for short prople. Cleaning polished metal can be a real pain but clear coating these areas really helps.
 
WELL!! Grumpy I hate SLIC's cause I always have to take the damn things out of there to work on the engine. You wouldn't believe the jabs I get from all my buddies when they come around and I'm standing between the engine and radiator on the sway bar wrenching away. Hell Grump my sway bar is polished from the 100's of hours Iv'e spent threw the years standing on the damn thing. Ok guys take it easy it's hard for me to even reach anything in the engine compartment only being 5' 2" but I sure can get in and out from under them easy. All BS aside you can't beat PTE's. Iv'e installed 5 of them and every one went right in NO problem with anything. Fit,finish and performance are all excellent. Go for it Gary you'll LIKE it.

Reminds me of the old saying--"Do it once,,,do it right...",,, or is it "Do it right,,,do it once"--oh well, the memory is going too! :rolleyes:
