Not really a horror story but the guy that sold me mine, said it didn't leak any oil. (not true) Then later while replacing the stereo, I found someone hacked up the wiring harness. Then I found an added in live 12 vdc wire under the carpet that went to NOTHING. (could have had a fire there) Then I found some joker redid the exhaust at some point and used 2" pipes after the Y so that was choking down the exhaust....oh and his version of a test pipe was to hack off the flanges and weld in a 2.25" pipe in place, with the shittiest welds I've ever seen.....I have pics of it.

After I undid all the hack job crap it actually runs better.

did you ask the guy if he had ever run nitrous thru it, or do you just assume that people are going to tell every little thing about a car they are selling?
Yeah, thats it, novadick, I must have assumed that. Actually, he painted a picture of a low mileage and pampered car.

I bought mine 11 years ago and spun a bearing the next day. Was in bumper to bumper traffic in a toll way when it happened. The seller asked me how hard I was driving it. It had a "rebuilt engine" with less then 1000 miles on it. It was also a GNX clone. He had the car for a "few" months rebuilding it and said that he would split the build 1/2 price (still 5000 out of my pocket). The part that I lost it all is that he said that he would pay for the turbo rebuild out of his pocket for "peace of mind" but charged me because "It was more then I thought it would be". The transmission only had R and OD. There were engine leaks all over the place and he said "Its a high performance car and these leaks are common". I fixed the oil filter and trans line and "wala" no more leaks. There were MANY more problems that I had fixed that this "Grand National Expert" built over the years. I just put over $8000 in an engine rebuild. I trust this builder this time.
