"An 11.90 car should be pretty easy to hook up....."....on the street??.....right, I think you're still going to find a little traction problem.

The problem is on the street, with street tires....I have the Nittos. Car does great at the track with the 28X10 slicks....clean runs even with a pretty stout foot brake launch.....not the problem. The problem is knock on the street if the back tires break loose.....

Nittos? Say no more.......

I have almost twice the HP you have and the 275/60 Mikeys hook well....... Get some real tires dude........

+1 about the Nitto's. I've got them on my car now and they may as well be made out of ice! Nitto's and 600+ hp = gigantic cloud of white smoke:D

This guy already said that his car hooks great at the track with slicks,so he already knows what it takes to hook. He doesn't need any advice on getting good traction, nor is he asking for any. He is clearly trying to find out what is happening during wheelspin that is triggering his knock sensor,ie,false knock. I,for one, am very interested in finding out what is causing this. You shouldn't see false knock when the tires are spinning. Has anyone experienced tirespin knock and figured out what caused it?

Ttype6.....Exactly.....thank you very much, exactly what I was thinking. Most people are listening and contributing useful information....some just seem to look down at people that have less horsepower than they do, thats too bad and hurts this board. Moderator, in case you missed it, I'm wondering about knock as a result of spin....not how to stop the spin or a tire survey or anything else, if you can't keep in constructive and polite...keep it to yourself, please.....I don't need wise cracks...I got plenty myself.....everyone else, thanks for the input.

Wasn't wise cracks and def not looking down at ya...... It was pointing out the obvious cause of your knock. You can take it however you want though. You could have said and I think Turbo1dr hit the nail on the head, you want to spin your wheels without knock, how do I do that?

And the whole tire spinning junkie world is waiting for the answer..........

Hint, it's not the driveshaft length........(Aww come on, that was damn funny!)

I gotta control posting anything on these boards........ Have a nice day.

The last thing that has been explained is the cause of knock during wheelspin. This guy clearly stated that he has no ambition to have wheelspin or create more of it. He also explained that he knows, exactly, how to stop it. The last thing that he should be accused of is being a wheelspin junkie. He's explained, very clearly that he is not. He only wants an explaination or theory as to why his knock sensor detects detonation when his tires, unpurposefully, break loose during hard accelleration.

This clearly states, he "thinks" he'll always have a traction problem..............Does it not?

That's how I read it.

He will always have traction problems,on the street,as long as he uses street tires. He knows this, and he knows that slicks cure the problem. He's not asking for,nor does he need, advice on getting good traction. He is,however, asking for advice or theories as to why his knock sensor detects knock when his tires break loose. My car doesn't do this . Does yours? Do you know why his does,or do you have a guess as to why? This is all he is looking for.

Spark Knock

Hey Russ, I'm having a problem with my car and was told that you might be someone who could help. Do you know what would cause my knock sensor to detect knock when my tires break loose during hard acceleration?

Yea, it's real knock and you fix it by getting the car to hook......... You'll win more street races as a side effect..........It'll work great! Put some Mickey Thompson 275/60/15 ET STREET tires on and off ya go........ Wheel spin will be history......As well as knock.

So, Russ.....your car can't spin the Mickeys??? Is that the deal? If that's the case, then sign me up for a set.....I bought my Nittos before Mickey got in the game with a decent radial offering and I'm not made of money, so just buying another set of skins for the rear for a little better traction is not realistic for me, but if it is the "end all" for traction loss in all situations for our cars, then I'll have to find me a pair......nuff said

That's hard to believe......not that I'm doubting you.... but near 800 HP and you can't spin a pair of street sticky 275s..... I would be concerned..or impressed...take your pick. The thing I'm "having a hard time understanding" is how you could be a Modeartor, with your mentality

Sorry I didn't have the answer you wanted to hear.

Gettin involved was my mistake. I'll stop hurtin your feelings now........Goodluck with the knockin and spinnin GN HEAD.

No feelings hurt on my end.......just wanted input on the cause of wheel spin knock, your answer had nothing to do with that.............you're always with the jabs....
