Where an easy place to get a tach signal?

Got an 87 GN hooking a large recall tack where can you get a tech signal? Which wire and what color?

It is a large green plastic covered spade connector hanging from the rear area of the alt. There should be 2 different connectors hanging there. 1 is the tach signal (green) and the other is the fuel pump prime connector.

It is the green conector behind the AC compressor.

I was also thinking about installing a tach. My ? is can I use any tach brand. also how can I unplug the old unit it's always max out.
