Well, I searched this topic first and didn't find anything. So I'll just start a poll.

If you had the money and both presented itself for purchase, which would you buy and why:

1986 or 1987 Buick Grand National

But specifically why? Seems like most people I know prefer the 1987 but the 1986 is basically the same car minus the chrome grill. Is it just the mind that's mystified with the 1987 being the last production year because the same argument can be made about the 1986 because it was the first production year for the Intercooled GN. I'll take the 1986 because I like the idea of "1st" and think the chrome grill looks cool with chrome wheels mounted.

What's your preference and why?

It doesn't matter to me if it's an 86 or 87 GN.I own an 86 GN with an 87 grill. I owned a different 86 GN for 9 years that had the stock 86 grill, but I do like the 87 grills better.

I have owned both, no preferance:cool:

Other than the 86 being less common, it is pretty much a coin flip. My 86 is every bit as aggravating as any of the 87's I've owned previously.

I like the idea of "Alot" less production made in 86 and the first intercooled made in 86,but I like the 87 grill and it was the year that got all the love for the fastest production of "that" year...But if im correct the 86 was faster from the factory than the 87 and only like 2,500 made in 86 compared to like 26,000 in 87?

I know the numbers are not right on,but I thought it was something like that?

Mine is a 86 with a 87 grill,I went with the GTA wheels so the chrome grill wasnt doing it for me..

I prefer the 86. More rare, especially after spending every day on this forum with thousands of 87 pics in people's sig, but most non TR guys think the 87 is much better. And yes, my 86 feels faster than both of my 87's...maybe just my imagination.

Maybe it is one the FBI cars.:D

Well, I actually like the 1985 GN that I have. It actually seems to be a little bit faster than one of the previous 86 or 87 GNs I've owned   .

O.K. I'll get back on point now.
