as long as you make sure that timing belt on the dodge is in good shape those little 2.2's are as a reliable engine as you can find. i had a 87 charger that thing ran great until the timing belt broke. that happened at 125.000 miles. new belt and ran until 5 spd blew up at over 200.000 miles. parts are easy to get and cheap for that engine also.

Crappy ass picture but here he is/was. I remember racing 5.0 Mustangs and staying next to them the entire time. I could not pull ahead but neither could they :-)

Car was bone stock until the day it died at 189k miles. Technically the engine still ran but you could see the road through the floor boards so it was time to retire the old boy :-(

Only problem were:
clutch cable - it at the things
brakes
radiators
door handles

In fairness I never bought Mopar parts so maybe the cheap crap at Autozone was to blame for the repeat replacement parts.

I would get another Deadtuna in a heartbeat if there are any left without rust.

I love non beleivers the turbo dodge will run like a raped ape if you take the time to understand it same with a turbo buick how many times have we heard turbo buicks wont run too expensive too hard to work on blah blah blah all cause those people are used to workin on n/a v8s turbo dodges had equal legnth halfshafts so torque steer wasnt as big of a problem.. I used to run them before i could afford to buy a gn and i cant tell ya how much money we made street racing on telegraph detroit area with my buddies daytona and two omni glh turbos the reply was always the same you wanna race me with what ?!!!! It looks like a vw rabbit!!!! followed by laughter in the background until the guys saw taillights and couldnt figure out what happened see what people failed to realize is that mopar gave you most of the building blocks and yes they blew head gaskets but if you were good you could change one at the track in a half hour.. in stock form you could squeeze high 14s my non intercooled car went 15.50 at milan at 15 lbs of boost but considering i had a grand in the whole car and i was 20 years old it wasnt bad now pauls daytona was runing 11.80 and he is cheeeeeeap adasms glh was running high 13s and marks glh was running 12.20s depending on which one you got all knid of factory goodies t 2 intercooled cars 87-89 shelbys came with forged crank and rods 88s had the 2 piece intake perfect for porting use a n/a exhaust manifold port it and add a turbo flange and you had the perfect equal legnth header.. take the transmission from a v6 minivan and put the guts in a 4 banger case with a few other goodies theres your 350-400hp capable transmission mopar was also kind enough to make the performance stuff motor mounts headgaskets and bolts etc cheaper that the factory stock stuff
if you ordered from the performance catalog need a 11 sec capable intercooler get one of a porsche 944 they work perfect some cars came 4 wheel disc also ...neway dont underestimate and toss to the side the daytona it can make a peppy lil daily driver i know i had 3 of them if you need parts i have a ton of them interior complete t 2 motor trans centerforce clutch with like 3000 at the most miles fenders taillights radiators, intercoolers 2 sets of wheels some glass and warlboro fuel pump my last turbo dodge got t boned on my way to work sadly so if ya need the stuff lemme know ...... ill sell it all for $500 i paid $260 for the clutch alone pm if ya need....heres a couple interesting links http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvHcxNJG7is

well ai wen tand looked at the 86 turboz. It has a good lookin body but the front seats are torn, it has the rusted out ebrake cable, and there is crusty rust on the inner rockers along with some wiring peeking outside the floor behind the pass fender. Hood has some slight damage. Lines look crusty too underneath. It is all original though with the back window louver, wheels, red valve cover, has a sunroof, etc. It's an automatic though:frown: It looks like some of the motor is apart, maybe the exhaust manifold and turbo, couldn't tell. I still haven't went and looked at the 88 c/s. I can probably get the 86 for less than scrap price but looks like another project. The 88 runs and drives but the body needs a little rust repair but I don't know what the underneath looks like. Just lookin for a kick ass deal that obviously isn't gonna show up I guess.
