Which transmission

Which transmission is the best to rebuild? I am trying to find one to put into a street driven Camaro for the overdrive.This car will not be raced but will see some "fun" on the street.I believe that the ones from the turbo cars are the best. However I don't know how to tell one from a non-turbo car. I have been looking at the "parts for sale" section so I just want to be informed before I buy. Thanks

The 84-85 TR used a BQ code unit while the 86-87 used a BR coded unit. See here for more id. info.

If you want to use a non-TR transmission, the Monte SS (CZ code) is probably closest, calibration wise. You'll want to put in a BR or aftermarket servo, bigger (at least 0.500") TV boost valve, hardened stator support tube, valve body kit and good quality frictions.
