Tyler,

I have no doubt that Precision did their homework with the new 66 Turbine Wheel.
A shop out of Chicago made 852RWHP with a 6266 on a high compression E85 Supra Motor.
These motors spin a lot of rpm and are a lot more efficient than our combinations.

However most 3.8 Buicks don't push their combinations enough to even max out the 62 Turbine wheel.
Those people would not go any faster going from the 62 to 65, let alone the 66 Turbine IMO.
Someone willing to run 30 plus psi and has a motor that makes power past 6000 rpm would see a difference.
chances are that supra was run at 4:1 pressure ratio or higher. These guys here dont even get over 3:1. Big difference in power.

Have you thought about any of the new Entry-Level turbos? I myself do not have the money for the 5857 or 5862, but I am sure the TA52 or 54 will suffice for my needs (Mid - Low 11's). I may have misread, but those are his goals as well?

I would probably run the 54, it is a good turbo!

The 54 is great but needs a good converter

What would a good converter be? I can maybe spend 500-600$ on a converter. I can't afford a 5 Disc Vigilante, but maybe something from PTC.

I went 11.32 @ 118mph on a TE-62 on my GN's original 125K mile longblock. ~29psi of boost. 93 octane pump and alchy.

Full weight car too. Could pick up some possibly with a better converter but I'm gonna do some suspension mods first and make a header switch.

My "learner" combo was a PTE 52 with a 2800 stall 9x11 from Bruce. Ran good but I was brainwashed that there were evil spirits that would attack your motor after 22#'s of boost. Moved up to a PTE 61 when they came out and promptly ended up with a different convertor; same source different stall. That was a sweet combo, ran 11.00's at 122 MPH on 22#'s boost, alky chip but no alky and 101 fuel.

Like I posted earlier, there should be a great selection of used turbos that with properly matched components are quite capable of meeting most people's performance goals.

A street car that runs mid 10's on pump gas, Nitto's and 20#'s of boost can become dangerous in a hurry. A 40 mile drive home in the rain is not something I want to do again.

PTC 9.5". Buy it once and be done with it. I bought a 10" and then my combo changed and I outgrew the 10" so I bought a 9.5" because I was too cheap in the beginning. So now I bought 2 converters when I should have saved and just bought 1 in the beginning.

wow can't believe this thread is still rolling.to run a 49 to low 11's will require boost and timing.bison touched on this a bit,if you are not ready for the finacial burden of breaking you should not be heading to the 10's.i can say that each car is different and i personally ran up to 32 degrees of timing and 25psi,and dropped timing to 26 with boost maxed to 29psi.

Buy it once and be done with it.

This has to be one of the best pieces of advice... i've made the mistake many times buying something that is marginal for what I need and eneded up regretting it as I ended up buying the more expenive piece in the end too.

X10 on marleyskater advice.

I've owned more convertors than I really want to admit. If you really want to go fast, the PTC 9.5 NL is the way to go and Dusty knows how to spec it for your combo.

would like to add that i ran a hd actuator on a 3 inch downpipe and my car went the fastest on a garrett .63 ex housing.never recorded backpressure but tried 3 different ex housings, smallest recorded the best et.
