Instead of a paid site for everyone, what about optional paid subscriptions? Those that choose to pay a small monthly/quarterly/yearly subscription get some perks. More PM space, ability to block certain threads, no ads, access to cool smileys that unpaid members can see but can't use themselves. Paid members get a cool T-Shirt that can't be purchased. Only paid members can participate in the giveaways. Paid members get their screen name in a different color showing their support of the site. I can come up with more but you get the idea.

If you look at that HAMB model I threw out for review, I believe that those are some benefit's of "Alliance Members". A seprate and paid membership which doesn't automatically mean you're a 'business interest' using the place for advertising or sales It does mean that you're a verified person to hold your word though. Kinda like being verified by paypal or whatever other thing you get into. Includes a dash plaque, to show pride in your belief in the community at any national event where anybody(Ha! everybody!) has a clue what it means.

With all the great ideas coming out of this thread to lessen the financial burden on yourself, I have 2 questions:

1. When will a poll be made so we can organize these ideas and see which one(s) are the most probable/popular with the members.

2. What is the time frame to institute the idea that best suits both yours and the site's needs, once an idea/ideas is chosen?

i was wondering about this 'Haterade' thing- for me, it's just the name on the left with an empty spot where a post would go.. i have Firefox with the adblocker setup so i have to actually click on the Flash media to see what the ad's for.. and i aint clicking on any ad placed by Google- that's just a general rule i live by when online- so you aren't getting any benefit by having that ad (or any google ad) show up on my screen.
some sites charge a membership fee for access to certain parts of the site- you need to be a member to place a for sale ad, and sometimes you need to be a member to even see those ads.. there are "members only" areas that only paid members get access to. things like that. i don't see why that business model wouldn't work here- you probably won't make much money off me personally- i don't look thru for sale ads and don't really care what the "members" are up to, but i'm sure there are plenty of other people that would make it worthwhile.

In a few days you will no longer have access here. I am going to be blocking forum viewing if you're running an ad blocker.

Its not a ban or anything and if you disable the ad blocker, you will be able to view the forums again but yea. Im going to put a stop to people blocking the ads.

Maybe there could be a "premium" membership that would cost something like $25 a year. You could get a bigger avatar, window sticker and some other perks like Phoneguy suggested....

I have a friend that owns a big screen printing shop and i can get shirts done cheap. Around 5 tp 6 dollars each.

I think it would look good on the back of the shirt with a nice GN maybe the pick of the GNX doing the burnout i saw in an add and then something on the left chest.

I have no problem helping out with the shirts at cost and with anything else.

We've been getting single color front/back shirts at work for that price, so you'd probly have to do something simple like a line drawing GN-burnout to keep the costs down wouldn't you?
