just like the title says whos using the TH350 and do you like it and is it better than the TH400 thanks guys

I currently run a TH350 in my car and have installed quite a few in customers cars.if built correctly they withstand alot of power.we have had "zero" problems in more than a few of these which includes a few low ten second cars.if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Thanks,Nick

thanks nick
yhea ill give you a call also is it hard to find a BOP trans in the TH350

not to bring this back from the grave but to clear up a few questions both summit and jegs sells a tranmission swap crossmember to put a th350 in a regal i got a chevy th350 in my grand national i just bought the crossmember for $150 and a bellhousing adaptor for $50 its only about 1/2 thick so there was no issues with driveshaft length. only problem i had was the aftermarket crossmember, the stock exhaust is to high and will interfere with the crossmember.

We have been using a TH350 with basic rebuild, shift kit and some hardened parts in a Camaro Hybrid with a GN engine. Low 11second range.
We sold the Camaro chassis and are finishing the final assembly on a 87LX hatchback Mustang with the same GN engine and TH350.. hoping for another year of good luck with this tranny.

What brand converter are you using? What stall? And how can you tell a 350 from a 350C trans? Which is better to use in a GN? I have a 350 that was rebuilt by level 10 in jersey and am trying to figure out what i gotta do to use it on my gn. it was already installed in a 86 olds cutlass with a N/A 231 v6.

I'm not a tranny expert by any means. I think the C is the lock up one correct? (someone more experienced please chime in) Ours is the BOP pattern with a 3500stall. Have someone experienced build the converter that knows Turbo Buick's strange demands with stall speed. We tried a 2800 converter used in our small block nitrous engines and it stalled at a ****ping 1400rpm 2.2 60' was the norm running 12.60 at 124mph :)
We had a converter built and it dropped to a 1.59 and down to the low 11's
The converter's the key for getting these off the line. Any tranny builder on this board could point you in the right direction on converters.
Good luck~

Yes- I think the "C" stands for lock-up Clutch. but wondering how to figure out which one i have and would it matter if i ran a lock-up converter or a non- lock-up?

I have the correct crossmember available if you are interested. I had a 350 in my car years ago. I think the crossmember came out of a early 80's Cutlass???

Edit: I also have a bop 350 that would be good for a core if one is needed.

The 350 T would have a electrical connector (4pin) or a one pin can't remember which it is.
The non lockup 350TH would have NO electrical connectors at all. That's definalty the way to tell them apart!

What do you do with the ECU's signals for 3rd & 4th gear?

There are pressure ports on the TH350, so switches can be installed. But what do we do about the 4th gear switch?

Since the 3d/4th and converter lock up are outputs only there should be no conflict leaving the 4pin connector unplugged.
Are you wanting to run the 350 with the lock up converter?
Not sure if there's a duribility problem with the lockup and our kind of power output.
Might want to e-mail a experienced tranny place for that answer.

Doesn't the ECU need to know when it is in 3rd or 4th gear?
Only if you want the ECU to lockup and unlock the converter based on the parameters in the chip. There are other ways to control the lockup clutch.

Thanks Scott- would the vacuum modulator have any control over the converter locking up? i remember mine was working off a vacuum line on a N/A motor.

I have a th350 in my gn. We have a tranny builder in our chicago land buick chapter(trans pro ) out of lansing IL. His th350's are good for high 9's and anything faster he recomends a 400. As far as crossmember i just went to the bone yard and bought a crossmember from a 3 speed g-body car, malibu, cutlass , monte carlo, or regal. No driveshaft mods either. w/ a 400 you change the yolk and possibly shorten the shaft. I have a 3200 coan conv. for 595.00 they have a grand national as a test mule plus the trans builder is a jobber for coan so he gives you a little discount. I think the trans , converter, and t-brake was around 15-16 hundred dollars. Im happy.
ps. if you call Coan ask for Walker.

49, The Vaccume Modulator is for a automatic valve body, between the governer (towards the tail shaft in the round bubble cover) and the vaccume module the tranny determines when to shift. The problem comes when a normal car is at WOT there's little vaccume and a normal module knows it's at WOT. Where our cars have boost at WOT which would confuse a normal module.
We went with a full manual valve body with our TH350 and all the valve bodys with a transbrake are manual which allows the driver controll of the shift points instead of the Module. There might be a different module now that allows boost since it's so popular! :)

The module has nothing to do with lock up. That's all electronic with the connector.

When I had the Carbed turbo installed in the Olds. I hooked it up the Intake with out a Check valve. I popped the Modulator and when the car was under decel it sucked the oil out of the tranny. I was wondering why I was smoke when I let of the gas.
So I swapped the line to under the carb. In my case that fixed the problem. Now On the GN, I guess you would have to use a check valve.
