The US auto industry has contributed more to the advancement of our socitey, established the standard of living we all have come to undertand as the "Americam Way" more than any other industry. Only one thing going to not only pull the US out of the current economic slump and continue our position as the foremost leader in the free world. So you can take your condimnation of US products and ride it all the way into the promised land of a divided United States. I will drive US, even if it breaks down every day, for the benefit of our country, the people that have paid the freight, (veterans, union leaders, and even elected officials), for my community, my country, and my childrens future. By the way i am a right wing, ultra conservative who believes every man needs to pull his own weight!!

The new Camaro was designed and validaated nearly entorily in Warren, MI. The entireweld line was designed in build in Auburn Hills, MI. Nearly 80% of the parts for the Camaro were designed in the US. Even though it is assembled in Canada, I will take my chances over some POS rice burner that does nothing but undermine American values and security. Sell a lot of Camoros, GM stock increases, translates to moire US investment. Sell more Honda's, another 100k more on the unenjoyment line, and oh by the way we need to cut music out of your childs curriculm.

When An American buys an American made Honda (not that I would ever do it), it provides Jobs for actual American workers and any money left over goes back to Japan where they use it to buy 747's and 777's and 737's and provide even more jobs for American workers all over the US, Like GE aircraft Engines in Ohio and PW in CT and not just in the rust belt.
Almost everything China makes was "designed in the US" and much of it still provides profits to US companies, similar to GM Camaro made in Canada or their Trucks made in Mexico.
If we want to make things as a country, we need to make things that other counties want to buy. If I referred to the Japanese guy that wanted to buy my stuff as a "Jap" and lumped him in with Chinese knockoff artists, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be too excited about buying anything from me.
The one thing China has been doing for us is keeping Buick Strong over sea's. 60% of Buicks ares sold in China and large profits for us. Thats why they won't get rid of Buick and they will shut down Pontiac. Buick in China is like BMW here in the USA.
Do you really think the Camaro is going to save GM?!? They need an ENTIRE LINE of relevant products, not just one that targets one narrow age group. Buy American-made, not simply American-managed. Who cares if XX Japanese brand is built in Indiana as long as it is keeping a few thousand Americans employed?

When was the last time you seen any antique Jap cars.You Do NOT because there are crap with no quality.I see old Buicks ,Chevys ,Olds, Pontiacs and other Union built cars that are no longer made still going strong.Ever been to a car show? I go to the Woodward Dream cruise every year and see thousands of classics and hot rods.Its the biggest car show in the world.You never see any old jap cars.I guess if you could find one that is 7 or 8 years old it would be considered a classic. Remember buy American.The quality is here.

great thread. JAP cars are JUNK!!! Americans do make the best stuff. it's a shame that a lot of americans are fooled and think that the jap cars are better. there are alot of dumb people in our country. it's a damn shame.
agreed! jap cars are throw away cars! i can't stand when someone says, oh toyotas run forever, blah blah. YEAH RIGHT. if you see an 8 year old toyota, you're like damn, that's old. but if you see a 25 year old chevy, it's no big deal. toyota's been in america since the 60s and their cars were junk then and they're junk now! what's stood the test of time? american cars.

What about all of the American-made Japanese cars? Are they crap too?!? You don't see antique Japanese cars because the American auto industry had a 60 YEAR head start! They did make a quality vehicle at one point, and then they got into cost cutting and were blindsided by the Japanese auto industry in the late 1980's. Try to find me a 1932 Honda! THEY DIDN'T EXIST!
FWIW I have an old ATR SS External DP and my buddy just got one of the Chinese external ones. And the difference in quality if huge. My ATR one is waaaay nicer. The welds are way better, the WG hole looks twice as big, and the material is not even close. Granted I paid a lot more for the ATR DP but after 12 years of use it still looks great.

Have you ever been into a dollar store? All that crap is Jap ,China or some other foreign land.No quality. How about Jap tools? Again made of crap materials,and unsafe to use.The only good thing that came from Japan or China are the whores who work at the massage parlors.

I am completely pro american, I have owned so many Buicks, I have lost count. If we had a different trade policy, I may feel differently, but honestly, over the years, I have grown very tired of the union stuff.
I work with unions on a daily basis, and at times they have been less than wonderful to work with. I am a receiving manager at a warehouse, and I have been told by union truck drivers to not accept goods delivered by non union drivers, this happens less, and less, since all the union trucking companies seem to be going belly up.
I want to buy a quality product that is made in the USA, I could give a damn, if that person pays union dues or not. Being a New York State resident, I see unions taking more, and more of my paycheck every week, I am just about tired of it.

You want a cheap price? That's why we got China junk! Pony up and spend your money for real quality. Simple as that. We have become a nation of cheap skates that would rather pay $1 for junk than $10 because it's inexpensive and we can then buy more things. We have lost the value of quality. If you want to keep US employed workers and companies going spend the extra money. If you don't care then buy the junk.
