Listen "CLYDE" This country was built from Unions, people who worked hard and fought for the benefits we have today. The Unions raised up everones standard of living. A 40hour work week,a safe work environment, health care, vacation pay and pensions. If it was not for the unions you would wouldnt be making your $10.00 an hour you would be making$5.00 and no benefits. You better thank our forfathers and quit sucking the dicks of foreigners. The real quality is here and will always be here in the U.S.A.

Exactly what they don't realize. Unions are the reason why non unions get a decent wage. W/o unions you dont stand to survive. Why shouLdn't a assembly line worker make 26$. When some rich wall street wiz kid has fuked us and the rest of the u.s make millions of dollars?

I think my point has been made.

You might be surprised at what I do realize.

I am the proud owner of an American manufacturing company. A large portion of our revenue is from automotive. I have had the opportunity to outsource my business and make larger profits but I refused. That being said we are non union. Unions had a time and a place in the US when people were forced to work in unsafe work environments and under paid. The UAW has played a large role in destroying the automotive industry in the US. Companies are forced to move there business overseas or they will will go belly up because they can't afford to manufacture in the US and pay UAW wages. Toyota and Honda plants that assemble in the US employees pay there line workers an average of $12-$14 an hour while UAW make $40. The UAW needs to wake up and realize that there compensation and health insurance costs are driving the cost (not price) of a car $2500-$3000 above competitive Japanese car companies who are assembling in the US. Also you are all clueless if you think that because you buy a US car that it is higher quality that a Japanese car. The majority of the parts for the big 3 are manufactured in china, the same place as the Japanese, Korean, and even the German manufactures parts are made. The problem with this country is that we are all a bunch of hypocrites including myself. I would like to see a survey of board members who don't buy there day to day essentials at wall mart or target were nearly 90% of the products made come from china. You have to look at yourself and realize that your part of the problem and that buying only US automobiles isn't going to solve it. We as a country have too high of a standard of living and we now paying the price. Its going to get worse before it gets better. If you look at our parents and grandparents they had completely different standard of living, they were not a instant gratification society as we are today.

Finally a rational thought.

Always some ******* blaming the worker or the unions. Blame the executives who are making millions of dollars doing **** by running the company into the ground. Ie Mullally from ford Wagoner from Gm. Another thing you realize that due to currency exchange which japan manipulates it makes it easier for them to dump there **** on us. Also they should level the playing field by not tariffing our products to death. See how expensive it is to bring a car into japan. We don't even have a plant there.

The US auto industry has contributed more to the advancement of our socitey, established the standard of living we all have come to undertand as the "Americam Way" more than any other industry. Only one thing going to not only pull the US out of the current economic slump and continue our position as the foremost leader in the free world. So you can take your condimnation of US products and ride it all the way into the promised land of a divided United States. I will drive US, even if it breaks down every day, for the benefit of our country, the people that have paid the freight, (veterans, union leaders, and even elected officials), for my community, my country, and my childrens future. By the way i am a right wing, ultra conservative who believes every man needs to pull his own weight!!
"did you ever know that ur my hero, everything that i would like to be, i can fly higher than an eagle....cause you are the the wind beneath my wings" :D

seriously thou.. i share ur thoughts. those people snuck us at pearl harbor...and then they tore up out auto industry through propaganda. talk to any independent mechanic and he will tell you that toyotas are no better than GM and cost almost triple to fix at times. dont even get me started on hyundai....this "japanese is better than american" is unfounded. i also dont believe any of the major auto publications. i dont know who they are in bed with. a few years ago they pitted a corvette against a porsche and a ferrari and the corvette smashed them in all the important catagories and they still gave their nod to the porsche... Fucc that! thats the **** they pull!

great thread. JAP cars are JUNK!!! Americans do make the best stuff. it's a shame that a lot of americans are fooled and think that the jap cars are better. there are alot of dumb people in our country. it's a damn shame.

agreed! jap cars are throw away cars! i can't stand when someone says, oh toyotas run forever, blah blah. YEAH RIGHT. if you see an 8 year old toyota, you're like damn, that's old. but if you see a 25 year old chevy, it's no big deal. toyota's been in america since the 60s and their cars were junk then and they're junk now! what's stood the test of time? american cars.

I'm confused here.

I thought Hondas and Toyotas were known to virtually go on forever?

Didn't the american car companies start cheaping out in the 1970's?

Way I understood it was yes Jap cars were junk at one time but then when american cars started getting lousy they took the old formula we were using and refined it so their cars would last unlike before.

Please fill me in.

this thread is worthless without pictures of the forementioned downpipe.. post picture please..

+1000. I predict this thread getting locked really soon. Also the "Japs" make quality pieces, they are a country that takes pride in what they build. China makes CRAP..........................thats the bottom line, The same goes for anything with the name Taiwan on it.

So is cottons and ta the only places that sell american DP's?
I'm in the market for one now myself and threads like this have me dragging me feet on where to get one from.....

...this thread is rediculous....first off as previously mentioned, american cars are made with parts sourced from all over the world, how many of you have worked on a car and needed a set of american measure and european measure....probably all of you, thats because they recieve parts from different parts of the world that don't use american standard measurements.

Secondly saying that japanesse cars are imported here cheaply is also false, which is why they are significantly cheaper in their respective countries, same for european cars as well. Why do you think taxis in europe are MB, because they like to live the rich lifestyle in their pulbic transportation??? BS!!, its because they are so much cheaper there than here, same could be said for japanes cars. Do some research and you will infact see that their are production plants in the US (I say US as some of your refer to America which includes everything north of MN and everything south of Texas).

I agree that many of you have valid points, but do some research or some logical thinking before you post comments that sound so uneducated they make you look like fools.

Also I agree that the US is the greatest nation in the world, and I support it whole heartedly and love it for the opportunities that it has afforded me, but jesus christ, to say that "american quality" is superior to all others is just wrong. Go try taking apart a Japanesse car and then go take apart a US car and see how many pieces break off in the process. Then tell me you are happy to replace a 700 dollar door panel because the cheap plastic clip didn't come off the wrong way. And then tell me your are proud that 50% of the costs are going to out of date business practices (unions) which will pay 80% of a persons wage who have been sitting on the bench doing nothing.

...enough said

Been there with the same downpipe issues.
I now have a 3.5" from DLS i think its still a chink pipe but i have heard it fits the best. Well see.....

Bolt up the new pipe and take some clay and then press the puck onto the exhaust housing and see how of it is.

How's this for a summation.

The Japanese take tremendous pride in there work. They also build a good car. They took advantage of an industry here in the U.S. that tried to get greedy and sell lower quality products while counting on "Brand loyalty" to carry them. Anyone remember planned obsolescence? It worked for a while and then people caught on. Unfortunately people have been indoctrinated into the "Japanese is better" thought process when U.S. cars have indeed caught up and in many cases surpassed their products in quality. People will catch on to that as well if we can hang on for a while longer.

As far as the unions go they are destroying our country on a multitude of levels. The CEO that makes a few million more than he should doesn't hurt the company as much as the 10,000 employees that make $40,000 more than they should. It's pretty simple math really especially if you have a calculator. Unions were necessary once and did wonderful things for American business. Now they're mostly just a bunch of lazy ass whine bags that want to run a business but don't have the balls to start there own.

I too would like to see a picture of the pipes the OP was talking about.

Maybe we should all learn to make our own down pipes..........

that way theres nobody to bitch or complain when it looks like ass.

its just YOUR fault then.

 A.j.

Good point.
At Cotton's winter bbq there was a set of China headers on a bench. From a distance they looked OK. They were shiny stainless steel and looked pretty. Closer inspection revealed some pretty nice welds but the pipes were thin, the flanges were way too thin and were going to warp for sure. I got no clue on the positioning of the turbo, bolt holes or cross pipe but I would venture they would need "tweaking". It's all in the prototype. They just copy something given to them. They probably don't even know what a Turbo Buick is. Since our cars are so different from regular US performance cars it's best to stay with someone that knows them.
