I am looking at getting a wideband for my Gen 2 translator. There is a pretty big price difference between the AEM and the Innovative. Any reason to spend the extra money? When I think of AEM, I think of a Honda with a big yellow wing, so do they work as good? Are they both accurate? Thanks

I run innovate unit..

The innovate unit works great for me. I use it in conjunction with the maft-pro. I have the set-up with the lambda cable. I think I paid 199.99 through Full Throttle. As I remember when I was researching that the main difference is the actual WBo2 sensor it self. There where some who complained that the innovated o2, Bosch i think, did not hold up as well.

Give Mike at Full Throttle a call. I'm sure he'll have some opinions on this topic.

I guess they don't like the fact that the 02 can be replaced for less than $50.... where the sensors that use the NTK one cost $350......

And I highly doubt that there is any proof that the Bosch sensor is any less reliable than it's $350 competitor (sp?).

...read up. I have the INNOVATE Motorsports XD-16 Kit and love it...probably one of this BEST mods you can do... besides Alky:wink:

That looks like what I am looking for, but you have to be a subscriber to see the next page. What was the outcome? Also, what is a good target ratio to shoot for with race gas, I understand it varies from car to car, but where should I start? Thanks again.

Wow i honestly did not know that there was such a huge price difference. Like I've said, I love my innovative unit. It work flawlessly.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump on that test for reliable results. A number of companies have called them on the carpet for their shabby test routine/methodology.

They have agreed, and will be re-doing their tests in the future.

I agree that that magazine test wasn't good science - might have been good entertainement, but not good sciece. Personally, I'm a real believer in the patented electronics scheme that Innovate uses, for accuracy, speed, and stability, and I love my LM1.

Maybe its a stupid question.....but I've been wondering for a while...how does this all work? How does the wideband O2 hook up to the computer and maft-pro? How do you tune with it? You hook up a laptop to the maft-pro and treat it like a FAST system? Does the maft-pro stay in the engine bay, or sit inside the car?
Beyond the stock ECM and chips, my knowledge of alternative tuning is slim....but Id really like to understand how it all works and what you need to do it.

The pro is a piggy back unit that stays inside the car.

The wideband has what they call a analog output that gets hooked to the pro.

You can set the pro to adjust fuel based on the readings coming from the wideband.

It's that simple.

Wow....cool, sounds easy enough. I'm guessing you can hook up a laptop to the maft-pro as well to view the information easier?

You do not have to use the tiny capcitors if you hook it to a power logger. That was per TurboBob himself.

I have the PLX M 300 I do not like it.
It doesnt have a display range below 10:1
from 9.99:1 to ? it just displays "RICH" Now this becomes an issue if you want run alky or E85.
The upper spectum goes to 19:9:1 then reads "LEAN" which is fine.
I do like the ease of installation and the Red led display that matches the scanmaster but it would be nice if it read 7 or 8:1 so I know how exactly rich I am.

and the narrowband feed was displaying unreliable information at WOT on DS it was reading 999mv which was completely inaccurate. I was pulling fuel and it made knock increase while still showing 999mv
I ignored the WB to NB display hooked the Stock O2 back up and tuned with that reference and did alright.

+1 on the Ford motorsport test being BS.

I wont be needing a gauge because I'm running Powerlogger and I can display my WBO2 on the Scanmaster. No need to buy any more fancy "stuff".

I'll be hooking it to the plug-n-play adapter feeding both the Translator Pro, and stock ECM. Basically the WBO2 signal going to the Translator Pro (with another jumper up to PL) and the NBO2 signal going to the ECM (for backup purposes only). So I guess I'll have to use the little caps.

I have the Innovative LM-1 and LC-1 and love them both, though the early version of the LC-1 had a ground wire issue that they later just ditched.

As far as reading below 10:1, I don't see why you would want that anyways. If you run E85 or Meth injection you are still reading the air to fuel value, and below 10:1 is way to rich. Though my Innovative read 9.4 on my friends car it wouldn't have mattered as until it was in the 11's it would have been too fat and we would of kept leaning it out for more HP. I have an E85 GTO and have it at 12.5 at WOT.

Just FYI, the Innovate uses a WB sensor that is OEM on new VWs and it easily replaced when it comes time to get a new one.
