I need to purchase a wideband. I buy most of my stuff from FT but I have Auto Meter gauges in my car and was looking at the Auto Meter kit that Summit sells. Is there any downside to the Auto Meter and is it compatible with the PL ? I also do not know if a wideband controller is needed for data logging or what the controller does ? Thanks, Mike.

I think that wb would work but Eric (Turbo Tweak Chips) likes to use the Innovate LC1, PlX, AEM and i think theres one more. If your using it as a stand alone type gague it will work fine. Using it in conjuction with the power logger i think one of the ones mentioned is the one he perfers. I went with the AEM WB, works good and simple to install. GL with yours.

I run the AEM as well. Eric used to sell them. I like mine and it was an easy install. It does have the 5V reference needed, two actually, to go to PL or FAST or whatever. And the controller is built into the gauge. We run the gaugeless AEM on my Dad's TPI camaro with closed loop WOT feedback using a Translator Gen II. The Translator doesn't have the right AEM input but there is always one that is close enough. This makes me believe the AEM could be used about anywhere. They all use the same Bosch sensor, but one uses another sensor that is supposed to be better, but I can't remember which.?.

You might want to look at Innovate. They just release the new updated version called the LC-2. I just ordered one from Summit's Pro shop. I talked to the guys at Innovate before I ordered. The analog outputs are programmable to meet the needs of whatever device you need to send the signal into. The price on the LC-2 kit is $189

I've had the Innovate LM-1 for years and it has always been a reliable unit. I just installed a PL in my street car and the LM-1 is just too big to hide under the dash.

I would go with the AEM. Super easy to install. Works great too. See if a supporting vendor caarries them otherwise they are on Ebay. They are about $160 shipped that is with a gauge too.

Anything that uses the BOSCH sensor is junk with race gas.The NTK sensor is bullet proof
I run this and it is Perfect every single time

Thanks everyone for all of the replies. We just got home from my son's baseball game and I'm going to read up on all of the suggestions. This is going to be a new area for me and it takes me a while to understand why one may be better than the other in a particular application. Once again thanks for the input you guys have shown me stuff that I didn't know was out there.

This is off topic but I did maybe 3 searches for wideband last night and advertisements for widebands keep popping up everywhere! Does this bother anyone else or is it just me?

Google's in your brain more than the NSA!

I understand the need to advertise but it's the tracking that I'm not fond of.

That's what I run. Seems to work fine for me. I had zero luck with the LC1. Never, ever worked right for me.

I just checked Summit and the replacement NTK sensor alone is 258.99 is this the one?

Well it was a tough decision but I purchased the AFX unit. They all had strong selling points but I decided on the AFX for two simple reasons. Reason 1 was that the simple display would be good for a quick glance while on the fly and # 2 is that the new units have been update with the NTK/NGK sensors that you guys are saying will live through just about any type of fuel, not that I need that yet but good to know it's there. One downside is that it seems a bit bulky compared to the other choices. Thanks again and I will update when It's installed

Bulky? It's pretty small...

How about here:

I used Velcro but it wasn't strong enough so I snagged some of my wife's craft supplies. Used 2 snaps and a length of elastic band material. Doesn't move at all. I can see it from the driver's seat but the numbers move pretty fast so it's not realistic to watch it all the time. Better to check the PL files to follow it.
The flash must have messed with the color of the gauge cluster. It matches well...

That was the area that I was thinking of also. I need to somehow incorporate my Maft Pro in the mix as well.

I received the AFX wideband and the hook up through the PL seems to be straight forward. I'm looking for the AFX wideband scaling (0-5v 9.00:1-16.00:1) or the equivalent in the Maft Pro. Also I have the Caspers adapter harness and I need to find the 2 wires that must be broken out from the Caspers harness for the wideband. TIA, Mike.
