Hey guys-
I'm still doing my housing search out here in Chicago. At the moment I can't decide between a apt in the suburbs or the city. The only thing tying me to the burbs is the fact that I want a garage to stow the GN for the winter.

Can anyone recommend a car storage place around here?

Where in the Suburbs are you looking ,in Park Ridge you can find a 2flat and rent the first floor and they have a garage also, well not all of them but some do..

Well I just started work in Downers Grove. I'm shacked up in an Extended Stay right now.

I can't really decide between finding someone's garage to rent and getting a flat in the city, or renting a place out here. With as pricey as this burb is the pricing seems to work out to be about the same.

I would definetly stay in the Downer's Grove area.Rent is expensive everywhere but would you really wanna commute from the city to Downer's Grove?Trust me i drive from Schaumburg to the NW side of the city it sucks.

I'm not even sure how far it is from the city. I'm gonna take the train this weekend to time it.

Downers Grove is 25 miles west of the city. Taking the Metra there on the weekdays will get you there in 25 minutes - these are express trains (add on whatever it takes to get you to the train station and your work location downtown). The weekend ride is about an hour - there all stop trains on the weekend. Consistent service. Great town with quickly elevating housing prices.

I stored my car a few years back at a local Metro Storage for about $100 or so a month. Not the cheapest, but easy to get to and no hassles.

Good luck with your search!
