I'm going to look into storing my car somewhere away from the elements this winter. What are my options? What kind of prices will I be looking at and what tips can you offer me before I put her to sleep.

By the way...i dont need anything fancy heated garage, my car is no show car, just dont want it to be destoyed by the nasty winters we get here. Thanks, Steve

What is Winter? We've heard of it down here in Georgia but I wasn't sure that it really existed.

If you have room in your yard you could buy a cover it storage garage About $200 used or $400 New.
Going this route I would suggest a tarp on the ground & maybe crushed 3/4 rock. Also vent it well so the humidity doesn't rust the car.

Next a Self storage place with locked fence is good but can cost $100 to $150 a month.. for 6 months that is a lot of wasted change.

Look for an old person in your area that owns a home with a 2 car garage.
Maybe the spouse has died recently.. Offer to shovel snow or do yard work in return for storage space.

Last option: MOVE SOUTH

Hey thanks for that reminder photo of the snow.. My snowblower broke both belts :(

Storage tips:

Plug the exhaust pipes with rags,
buy a dehumidifier for damp days.
tarp on floor.
Fill tank with gas,
change oil,
trickle charger on battery,
decon tray for those pesky mice,
good car cover,
raise car so tires don't get out of round OR
Pump them up to like 60 lbs if you want to keep it mobile
for emergency move.

I've been trying to think of who I know that has spare garage space that my car will be safe in. And the yard idea wont work at my house. Thanks for the tips...I was hoping them storage places wouldnt be more than like 60/month...oh well...i got a few months to keep looking...hopefully something will come up

No Problem your welcome.

Well maybe in your part of the counrty storage units are cheaper?
Sometimes if you PRE PAY they will knock down the price.

Look in your local newspaper for renting garage space
OR
put an ad in saying you want to rent a space.

First thing I would recommend is to find a warm semi arid climate,,,,,,like my garage in California. I will start and drive it every week for you. ha ha ha. j/k,,,,,Mark
