Wiped Cam Need Help Picking A New One

OK 1987 gn here is what I measured on a stock 8445 turbo car head there is .490" room between the retainer and the top of the valve guide. General recomended clearance is .060". So you have .490 - .060 =.430 valve lift to work with, you may be able to cheat on this a little but realize the potenetial damage that can happen if the retainer crashes into the guide. LIke Bison said its too risky not to check and your heads may have more or less clearance. Was it ever determined if this is the original cam in tis motor?
