Hello Everyone didnt know what the appropriate title would be so I went with what popped up in my head first.

I feel that there are just as many Fruit Loop Sellers then there are Buyers. Take for instance I went to go look at a GN about 3 weeks ago on the phone he said it was MINT got there wow what a hunk of junk, then on the first call he said he bought the car in 92, when I get there it changed to 94. I alittle odd, then he tells me he wont sell it to me if I plan on modding it out, um excuse me if i give you the $15,000 you wanted who cares if I burn the thing right in front of you.

Or people who need to get rid of it asap but they put next to the price is the word firm. If you needed to get rid of something asap the price would be negotiable.

I know exactly what Im looking for like im sure alot of you out there know. It ust gets frustrating at times, but I guess thats what makes the chase that much fun.

But when I call Dennis Kirban and he is not buying these right now, the KING of GN's, you know the economy is in the crapper.

Yep its a real strange market out there right now. Not only for GNs or even hobby cars, but all things for sale/wanted.

1. Concur, the lounge is the more appropriate section.

2. Some want their car to go to a loving home thus why they say "I won't sell if you're going to mod it out"....it's as if a part of them goes with the car. But I do agree once paid for who cares, it's yours not theirs...

3. The "mint" hunk of junk was probably just a way for him to lure you in, then hopes you would think "well i came all this way, sure would hate to go home empty handed". OTOH everyone's definition of "mint" is different. They said on here before I bought my car how nice it was and how it was worth the money. Not quite, but it's "ok" enough for me. Still think I paid a little too much, especially since in 6 months TR prices went down...but I was in need of a car at the time.

4. Really some people don't know how to word their ads. They do say "need it sold" which IMO is bad b/c it just means you're hurting for cash/hurting for it gone. That's when all the low ballers come out. But yes putting "firm" next to "need it gone" is an oxymoron.

I've been thru exactly the same thing, waisted time,money and patience. Nearly got into a fight in a bad neighbor hood when I generously offered $1000 for a piece of s*#t that was advertised as nice and that was because it had 4 tires and wheels on it and junk was bringing $250 per ton! I drove 300 mile home mad as hell and out $200 . Labor Day, no less!! Thats why I call it "you have to kiss a lotta frogs to find a prince"

TRhis is nothing new, I went thru this selling 3 new GNs and a low mile GNX a few years back. As the seller you see the crazies that car sales attract, no money, no intention, just wanna look. Then you go to buy and they act like they are doing you a favor to sell you "their car". Are you kiddin?!
The world is just full of crazy people, and our genre/niche is no different.

I gotta agree with the pix/ vids.
I was surfin' craigs list and have been wanting an IH Travelall. I found what I thought was a nice one about three hourrs away so I emailed about a better description and some pix. I got two pix and a phone number that was in the ad. One of the pix was the same one in the ad and the other was a pic of the steering wheel. If I wanted to call, I would have. I wanted info and some pix. Hard to understand? I didn't respond further. I did notice they posted again and noted it was because of a "no call/no respond buyer". Took them the better part of a week to get me a response. Wouldn't waste any more of "their" time.

You'd think a seller would actually treat a prospective buyer with some courtesy.

I sold my 70 Chevelle SS396, which I had completely restored. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Any time you are putting up a high dollar car the nuts are going to come out of the woodwork. I had one dude call me and start yelling at me that the car was fake, which couldn't be further from the truth. He really had no clue about A-bodies, as I could quote that sh!t chapter and verse.

By-the-way, I sold that chevelle to buy my GN. I got sick and tired of the car show idiots...

Anyway, strange market for sure. If you can, hang on to your car, if you're looking then you're in a great position to buy!!

I seem to recall you sold that car for a song. I personally would have kept it but I can understand if you really wanted a GN.

Car show idiots? LOL wait until you get a few out around your GN...if you haven't already...they'll proceed to tell you "you shoulda put a V8 in" or "that's supposed to have twin turbos on it". Or better yet...."Nice Monte Carlo".

Of course there's also ones that will look at a plain jane Chevelle and say "you shoulda got an SS".

Ditto.... after buying 5 of these over the years and looking at around 20+ most of the time there is disappointment to be expected when shopping the market...
