July and August are brutal months here for racing when temps are still over 100 deg at early evening, so this is when we do maintenance and upgrades on our toys. :)

I know the factory had to "package" our turbo engines to accommodate many things like AC, cruise, PS and of course emissions. I tired of this stuff long ago in my race car, and finally got fed up with the turbo placement in our cars.

So we did the logical thing that most other turbo racers do when building their car, turn the turbo the "correct" way so the inlet faces front, and exits to the rear. :biggrin: [Love the access to the distributor now even though it is not installed yet!]

So we built a new set of headers to accommodate this placement, and while at it made a few other cool changes such as the "cool" air inlet from the inner headlight.

Not completely finished yet, but is coming together nice! :cool:

Of course the stock dash is worthless in a race car, so after a couple butcher jobs, the dash and console will also be completely re-done, but no pics yet.

Here is a current view under the hood:

Now that is just prudy:biggrin::biggrin:

Looks great Nick!

That looks absolutely amazing! Where are you evacuating your block pressure? I see the smog pump but the hoses are going through the inner fender, do you have a catch can hidden under there?

The hose from the valve cover is the inlet to the vacuum pump, the outlet goes through the fender to an accumulator.

The oil fill on the pass side VC is sealed.

A regulator mounted on the pump inlet allows adjustment of evacuation which is recorded and logged by the FAST XFI. :cool:

You can't do that - it's not in the stock location!:D

Seriously, I like it - not cookie cutter like all the other TRs trying to fit a stupid set of rules.:rolleyes:

Will, the turbo IS in the stock location, just not the stock ORIENTATION! :D

Probably best not to go back 5 years or so and open up that can of worms. Where is Cal Hartline, Billy Anderson and Fat Nat when you want them? :confused:

Anyway, thanks, and here in the West racing is more like run-what-you-brung with about 5 rules per class, NOT 5 pages of rules? :mad:
