Hey Guys and Gals,

What's the best sleeper you've seen/can imagine?

Let's get this started with a couple cars I'd like to build:

Vehicle: 2002+ White Oldsmobile Silhouette (minivan)
Drivetrain: Versatrak AWD with a TA performance or Stage II turbo V6
Quiet Exhaust
Should run low 10's on street tires, if the tranny will take it:D

Vehicle: 80 something Regal (non-T)
Drivetrain: New caddy AWD system w/turbo 3.8
Body: Primer grey with flat hood
Tires: Whitewalls, 205-70R14's
Wheels: Black steelies
Interior: Front bench/column shifter

Thoughts?

Best one I've seen on video was a 2.5 turbo Caravan, low 12s. Probably surprised a hell of a lot of F-bodies. know of quite a few 350 Astros floating around too, with some gears and light mods. A very easy swap, a lot of people who do it do it in a weekend. There's a bloke with an Atro that looked bone stock, SC 396 that ran low 10s. Very impressive.

I think our very own T-types and turbo-t's definately qualify for that honor. If we are taling about possible combos, how about a early 90's Miata paired with an LC2?

The guy with the turbo caravan uses it to tow his 10 second plymouth reliant aka "relentless". The picture I saw of it looks bone stock down to the hubcaps. Looks like it came straight from any given grandma's garage and runs mid tens. Sleeper?

Lots of 10-13 second omnis, vans, and daytonas

My dad has a pretty cool piece.77'Impala crew cab,(he ordered new thru where he works)with the 9C1 package.he waited untill the car came up for grabs and snatched it up on the cheap (even for him!).Since about 79'he's continualy tweaked, poked, proded every nut, bolt and screw in it.With 4 wheel disc brakes,a full boat 4L60,a 406"sbc,aluminium heads, and the only Q-Jet I've ever seen work that good,It's good for mid 12's at about 4200 lbs.Not bad for an ex-cop car. Can't wait to see it run with the new 434"sbc w/gen 7 combo going together. I'm pretty sure I've still got him covered with my "little V-6".He's made life miserable for many-a-Bimmer and stang/camaro on the freeway. They never know what hit em' till its too late.

That would be the Crisafulli's T-Type. 9.30's on drag radials and original T-Type wheels. It looks like a 12 second ride

DUI kills

I remember reading on one of the turbo caravans web sites that the the owner was killed by a drunk driver. I think his family has left the site up in his honor. This guy loved the sleeper look, he had a K car that could outrun Vipers:eek: and he did it on the cheap side of things no crazy exotic parts. I will see if I can find a link to his site.

My choice?
My car.
What makes it the best?
I get to drive it everyday. (Well, when it's not broken)
It looks like a 17-18 second ride, but pulls 11s, and on drag radials, pulls the wheels.

You obviously want AWD. How about an early 90's Subaru Impreza or 80's brat with an STi drivtrain swap. Not too difficult, and with 11 sec capabilities. Here is a Brat with an STi drivetrain.

I got toasted driving the GT by an older full size Suburban. Not sure of the engine but it ran fast. It runs at Gateway Raceway in St Louis. Talk about a suprise, see seomthing that big and ugly rip up the track.

I think I saw the same one. The ultimate low buck beater/sleeper. I think he replaced some of the side/rear windows with thin plywood because it's lighter. The van was awesome; dusted LT1 F-bodies and yet a vagrant would be ashamed to be seen riding in it. I hope that thing about the owner and drunk driver isn't true.

Too bad. The world needs more guys who make cars go fast with dryer hose CAI instead of $800 exhaust systems that get you 4 HP.
