Electric is a whole other animal!

Instant Max torque translated to velocity with the twist of a reostat! Great for short bursts.

The problem is the weight of carrying enough 'juice' to get range, and long recharge times make it undesirable as a real car.

fastest implies Land Speed Record, which is the honor of Ohio State University's Buckeye Bullet streamliner, at the speed of 257 miles per hour within the limits of the record (highest speed was a recorded 271 MPH)
now; fastest street legal electric car, implies highest top speed, not a course of a set distance in shortest time, IE, Quickest....lol.
so far i have yet to see one approach the maximum top speed of a gasoline car, and its the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with the record of 267 MPH....only 4 miles an hour less than the maximum recorded speed of 271 for the electric LSR streamliner......

Acceleration and Velocity are two different animals. A Kia can maintain a reasonable velocity on the highway,,,it just fails in the acceleration department.
