Funny how emotion dictates opinions on Jr. He f'up and that's the reality. He was having a bad day and Vickers paid the price.

Jimmy Spencer tells it like it is. Even old D.W. the retard said it when it happened. Just because you like the over-rated son of the best driver of all time, the fact are the facts.

He'll never be a champion. Can't keep it together.

Wonder if the economy affected the outcome? Usually they would try to get the race in that night but seem to recall them finishing races the next day if need be?? They really seemed quick to pull the trigger on calling it.

How many other Daytona 500's have been called due to weather?

I'm not a Junior fan, but watch the replay.

It was too late for Vickers to "block" junior (he was already 2 feet fwd of Vickers rear bumper) so his only hope was to run him off the road below the yellow line so he couldn't pass him.

Jr. may not have done the right thing per NASCAR, but he did the right thing for the good of the sport.

The Yellow line rule as written encourages leaders to run other people off the road.

Not sure how the next few years are going to look with sponsorship dollars drying up. It could go either way!

For the good of the sport?

How is taking out the cars that were the best all day the right thing to do?

Vickers was trying to protect the b/s "lucky dog" spot. He may have not known the run Jr. had on him but the 88 not lifting a bit and choosing to swerve back up with no regard for Vickers or anyone else because he screwed up all day was the real story.

If it was anyone else then this and every other forum would tear that move to pieces. Tell me I'm wrong.

If it looks like a duck.

Stay tuned all season for his slow departure from fame as he continuously stubs his dink.

Exactly! Just cuz his last name is Ernhardt does not make him a good racer.
he will slowly hang himself & his Big Ego live on TV!

as a kid my dad made me watch NASCAR (early 70's) before NASCAR was "cool".....

NASCAR was cool?? ;)

j/k, but my old roommate made me hate NASCAR even more because thats all he'd ever watch on TV...from start to finish!

I'd rather watch rally racing, or even drifting....

Jr. did lift. Vickers came down on him and Jr. hit him in the rear 1/4. At that point it was Vickers fault what ever happened next.

Jr. lifted and got behind Vickers and then hit him, likely because vickers was still squirrelly from hitting Jr with his left rear 1/4.

There wasn't much Jr. could do but hit Vickers. I guess he could have braked and spun out but then the guy who caused it (Vickers) would have gotten away with it.

If it had been kurt busch doing it to Jr, I would have seen it the same way. Vickers was "blocking" by trying to run Jr. off the road and not by getting in front of him, because he WASN'T in front of him, he was next to him.

last I heard.

your TV had an on-off switch.
meaning you morons didn't have to watch the race! :D
so quit whinning and watch Opra, LOL

I feel JR is trying his best, everyone expects him to be his father,
he isn't! look how much pressure is on him! course he's gonna screw up,
I was happy to see #48 in the rear of the pack, and very glad to see #43-44 up near the front,
enjoy the race, or watch tennis.

UNGN- Logic obviously does'nt work with you. Keep looking through those Amp Energy coloured glasses. Listen to the commentators and judge for your-self.

who said this was a spelling Bee?

Ty, neat pic!
for some reason spellcheck is inoperable on my computer, course you'd have to know how to run is first.
you all got my meaning. ha ha ha

Yeah, looks like we are taking a right turn on this. Wasn't supposed to turn into a Jr bashing thread, I AM a fan of his but his head was elsewhere yesterday, he is human afterall but maybe he has too many irons in the fire???

My whole thing was why did they pull the plug so early on the race?? Did a little research and the last one not completed was in 2003 but only 4 times in 51 years did it not complete 500 miles. It probably was setting up to be a decent finish as Daytona usually comes down to the last lap anyway. Just wish they didn't act so quickly. Glad I didn't have tickets.

I am standing by my comment about that stupid Digger deal. Was sort of cute when they did it last year but c'mon, seemed like they were talking about Digger more than anything else. They totally commericalized it now with t-shirts, cartoon show, etc.

I got a kick out of the initial commentary vs. later 'giving Jr. the benefit of the doubt' after review. Man, talk about political. I don't think Jr. was entirely at fault there. Two racers not on the lead lap should have used better judgement. But if that mistake would have been KURT Busch's, either poorly blocking a freight train OR not being able to check up the freight train in time, every last NASCAR fan here would be screaming what a A-H*LE he is. The Moral? Vickers and Jr. are BOTH A-H*LES this week! And Kyle Busch got smashed :D :D :D :D :D

Oh, PS. If Fat Tony had screwed that one up, how many would give him the same respect as always, just like Dale Sr.?

Today on the phone I talked to someone who was at the race and he said the ticket holders were smokin pi$$ed after that one. Rain was forecasted to be coming and instead of trying to start the race sooner to get the whole thing in they had hours of pre-race circus crap. He also said he will not be buying a ticket for that race again but, he's keeping his Bristol tickets.

The commentators are toe the stupid NASCAR party line that the yellow line is sacred and OMG you can't advance your position if you go below it and you have to magically back off and fall in behind the car in front of you, even if its locked up and sideways.

Vickers is smart enough to know if he runs Jr off the road, Jr. can't pass him, so since it was too late to block him, running him off the road was his only viable option.

If Jr' was Kurt Busch, I would have saw it the same way.

 This was after he called me a moron, but thank you Captain Grammar.

Do you have an opinion or are you just the lounge language police?

You mean NASCAR still has actual races, I thought they just sold merchandise.
