Long story short version
After 2 years of chasing a VERY VERY VIOLENT teeth rattling vibration (felt like the car was going to fly apart no bs ) the yoke on the driveshaft was replaced.
The vibration is still there but minor at this time. The new solution that is going to be attempted is pinion angle.
How many of you would balance a drive shaft after replacing a yoke?
I would especially after chasing it for two years.
What would it hurt to at least check it?
$4000.00 trans and a $4000.00 rear all with less than 1k miles. Why risk $10k over a few hours and $125.00 if they charge him since he would take it back to shop that built it not so long ago.

Am I being paranoid in wanting to re-balance or at least check the drive shaft ?

I would have it checked . If it shook that bad , how is the pinion end ? It could have beat the snot out of the whole shaft & universals .

Long story, short version, it comes down to Bang vs. Buck.

Is it so expensive to just go ahead and get it done compared to 2nd guessing the decision to not get it done?

This is where your decision needs to be determined.

Bent? Check run out. Start the check at the center, as that's where the highest stress point will be.

I had mine rebalaned. One of the yokes was not welded square to the shaft, thank you GM.

Pronto! Was talking about original poster. $4000 trans and rearend, would hope he has an aftermarket driveshaft. If not, might as well spend the money and upgrade vs putting $$$ into a stocker. Just saying!

It's a new performance built driveshaft.
A balancing job usually costs about $125.00
I just can't understand his decision not to at least have it checked. And assume that it is now good.
I am the only one telling him to at least have it checked.
At this point am just going to go with the flow and hope his luck turns around.

Ya, I had a slight viration at a specific speed, not crazy but enough to annoy me. Also went with solid u joints. Thay was over 10 years ago. A higher strength driveshaft is in the plan but I don't want to add more weight, especially rotational. Mulling aluminum. I don't have a trans brake. Need to do more research on driveshafts. Oh, yes I would have that driveshaft rebalanced just to be sure.
