wrench fell on +/- battery terminals

hey what could have happened my wrench fell on my battery and it seems as if my alt stopped charging lights went dim and did not start had the alt checked and it was ok so what could be causing it not to charge, I noticed that it will backfire and pop when taking off then lights brighten and smoothen out

How is the actual battery voltage? Usually a dead short will knock them down a good bit at least. Also how is the battery voltage on the scan tool when running? I take it all fuses/links are good? Wouldn't hurt to load test the battery either.

Could have done a number of things..
Smoked the battery..
Smoked a fusable link somewhere...
Could have also done both. Usually the plates inside the battery collaps when that happends and the battery is no good.

There are 3 fusable links designed to protect your wire harness in case of a short. They are located right at the starter. Ohm each wire to see if one blew to protect the rest of the harness.
