Looking for a old school red stripe converter to buy. I have a numbers matching 70 Corvette with the base 300 HP 350, TH 400. I also have a BR 200 4R trans out of a totaled 87 GN. I want to rebuild my 200 4R and install it in my Vette. I would like for it to stall around 25-2,800 RPM and figured that a old school red stripe should fit the bill without breaking the bank. The stock D5 might work in this application, being as it would be mated up to a V8.

The red and orange stripe converters came from Transcrafters in Albany Georgia. It was a GSCA thing originally. Had one for a while but bought mine directly from them for $100 with trade in. Better options out there.

Thanks! I still have my car however I've been out of the game for several years now.

Not sure that converter would be a good match for that engine. Plus it being pretty old tech. I'd use that stock one before I went hunting an unknown history, no telling what has happened to it unit that could be chock full of trans internals. And if you are going to have it cut you can do that with a 245mm core and get newer better unit for not much, if any more money.

I agree, was hoping that someone had one that was never installed. I guess i should have been a little more clear. Like I said I have been out of the game for a long time. Who would now be the go to guy to have a stock unit re stalled if it's not to my liking?

The one I'm currently using came from these guys i linked below and I have used them and their stuff for over thirty yrs. But I'm sure there is someone local to you who does converters and trans stuff. D Husek at www.turbobuickperformance.com sell both lockup and non lock up units that I have seen work well. PTC is also a big player in the turbo regal set. What part of the country are you located?
