I'm out for a drive yesterday and start to smell antifreeze so I turn on the vent and: yup, antifreeze. So I got o pull over and as soon as I'm on the shoulder the GN dies. I pop the hood and lo and behold, there is a plume of steam screaming out of a spot on the radiator. (Top, driver's side where the hose comes out.) Long story short, I run home and back and trailer the car into the garage. Too frustrated to see straight, I left it alone overnight. Whenever I've had a car overheat on me, once they cool off, they'll fire right back up......after 24 hours I tried to start it. It will crank and crank but does not turn over. Does anybody have any ideas as to where to begin on this? Why wont it start?

Man I don't know thats strange, this needs to be in tech. Are you getting fuel and spark?

You need to keep in mind that I'm a mechanical idiot and I'm working without any aftermarket guages, but - like I said- it's cranking and every so often 'coughing' like it almost turned over. Could the heat have fried something with the fuel delivery system? Cooked injectors? It just doesn't seem like it's getting the gas it needs.

I agree, this should be in General Tech.
Do you have a scantool? Thats #1. Maybe the coolant sensor died. Will not start without it. If you can hook up a scantool, maybe it will show some rediculous reading from it.

This is probably a very long shot, but my '87 turbo-t daily driver lost a water pump about a year ago and had it replaced at my local Buick dealer. Ran fine for about a week and died on the freeway. Had it towed to dealer and then they tell me that a large percentage of buicks that lose the seals in the water pump generally need a crank sensor shortly thereafter. Reason: water drains out of the hole in the bottom of the pump and runs on the crank sensor. Digestive system of the crank sensor does not include water or liquid. Might be worth a shot. Dealer should have told me when I was in there the first time for the water pump but you know how they like for you to make 2 trips for everything.
