My gf's mom asked me if i would put her new alternator on cause the shops aroudn the area were gonna charge her way too much. i agreed... she thought $40 was fair, me too. Anyway we go to autozone and get the new alt.
Its simple really... 3 bolts/nuts, 1 snap connector, plus you gotta loosen the tensioner.
so i put the new alternator on. the regulator is plugged in, the wire is on the back.
we start the car and the car says 12v.. the test cart says 12.6v and max amperage is 8 amps?
WTF?
did autozone sell her a broken brand new alternator? I dont get it, i didnt touch anything!! unscrewed the charge wire, unsnapped the regulator plug. swapped alts, put the charge wire back on, plugged in the regulator wire.
can anyone gimmie an idea what might be wrong?
