Anyone have experience with these? I was thinking of getting a new one, but wanted to hear others opinions on them. I'm just looking for something to mess around on in the fields by my house. I'm not looking to go 90mph. I don't need a banshee. I've heard they are under powered and may be too small for me. I'm 5'10 140lbs, so I didn't think that'd be a problem. I can get a brandy new one for $2400, so I figured why not.

well, you cant go wrong with a yamaha. my buddy used to have 1. they are a bit small and arent that great in the snow but still a lot of fun.:D

My son has had two blaster's. They have both performed flawlessly! The one he has currently he put a Vito's big bore kit, carbon fiber reed valves, and exhaust. This thing really screams in the trails with these modifications. They are light and and really does well on the trails.

i have one that i used to ride a few hours every day. i'm 6' 140 lbs and never had a complaint about the size. i liked the smaller size, it was a lot easier to throw around than bigger quads. i also had a honda 400ex for a while, and i really did like the blaster much more. it wasn't as fast but the power band felt stronger, i think its just 2 vs. 4 stroke.

if i were getting another i'd look at an older honda or suzuki 250, there cheaper run better, just allaround better than a blaster is.

it really depends on what you want to do though. with enough pratice a blaster will do pretty much anything you want it to do. i didn't have any problem climbing very steap or rocky hills, its GOOD at every thing, but not great at anything.

and a pipe and set of reeds ($250 total) will have it screaming. the only real weakness they have is their suspension. i don't know if that has been fixed yet or now (mine is a 98)

they do cost more, but look at the polaris 2 stokes. scrambler 400, xplorer 250 older 300, and 400 and the trail blazer. if i could get another it would be the scrambler 400 4x4.

I'm not sure on the suspension, but I know the 01 (i think) and up have disc brakes in the back as opposed to the drums on the older models.

I see a 02 blaster for 1800 in the paper, not bad?

thats why i was thinking the new ones might have better suspension, but i don't know. i didnt' have any complaints with the drum brakes, they worked too good if anything.
