    electric fans

Ok, low speed fan operation: Low speed fan is controlled by a) ECM according to coolent temp via the sensor in front of the intake, pointing forward, with the black and yellow wires. Fan on temp is a parameter set in the chip. b) low speed fan is also commanded on by the AC high pressure...

    Gettin out of Buicks

Sorry to hear it Sean. but I know how you feel. One word of advice. I too have 2 kids and enjoy my time with them, but, after this summer, selling my car was a huge mistake. Sure it got me a little out of the hole, and I love my tahoe, but I miss taking it out for a romp. Maybe yours wont go and...

    polishing down pipe and headers

Notice the downpipe, clamps and fuel fittings are all the same goldish color. I suspect they are in fact coated.

    polishing down pipe and headers

The stainless used on the headers and downpipes wont remain shiny long when subjected to BOOSTED exhaust temps. It will tarnish and begin showing the "veins" in the stainless. You should reconsider coating them if you want them to look good long term

    Alternator Bad Diode!?!??!?!

The diode trio isnt connected in any way to the plug. Its connected to the output wire bolted to the rear of the alt. The alternator by design generates an AC voltage. The diode trio is designed to snip off the sine waves that go below 0 volts, leaving only the sine waves above 0 volts. The...

    ac testing

Yes, technically you can, but you'll introduce a lot of moisture to the accumulator. You be better off using Nitrogen. If you must use shop air you'll need to evacuate it longer to remove the moisture. If the dessicant in the accumulator is already saturated, you may wind up sending it over the...

Twilight Sentinel causing strange issues...I think

Lift the carpet on the left side of the trunk and check the ground. Still sounds like a ground problem, although the turn signal not working right seems weird. There is no connection that I know of between turn signals and park/instrument lights, other than bulbs and their connections. The turn...

Name some obscure US Produced Car Models made during the 1980s

Not true. I was in a car show with one. Forget the details but the guy proved it with all his paperwork. Until then I was unaware they even had an 83 corvette

Twilight Sentinel causing strange issues...I think

Sounds like a bad lamp socket/ground issue still. Take each bulb out of its lens, and put the turn signal(s) on, and with a voltmeter or test light, touch the base of the bulb while in its socket and operating (the copper part). The one that causes your test light to light, or the one that shows...

Parking Lights and Interior Lights ON Constantly..?

Did you tap into that 2 wire plug behind the radio? Going from memory the older GM's had a orange and a black or maybe gray in a two wire plug behind the radio. One wire was memory and the other illumination. Maybe you tied the a ground into one of those wires, which wasnt in fact a ground, but...
