Hello,

I was wondering about you guys who have 10 second GN's what tire width, and diameter are you using. Also what rear end gear ratios. Im considering Mickey Thompson slicks and centerline wheels.

M/T 28x10.5x15 slicks on 15x8.5 Torque Thrust
BFG 305/50x15 streets on 15x8.5x15 Torque Thrust
I don't think Centerline makes an 8.5 rim.

I use Weld Prostars, 8" rear rim with a 255/60 R15 MT Drag Radial, 27" tall. Eaton 3.42 stock ratio gears.

275/60/15 ...15x8x4.5  stock gears ..

My car has gone 10.00's on a 275/60/15 m/t dr on 15x8 Weld draglite with 4" bs with a 3.50 gear. I usually run a 28x10 m/t slick on a 10" wheel at the track, but when I drive the car to the track I use the dr's. Best 60' was a 1.51 with the dr's, that was leaving the line at 5 psi on the foot brake on an unprepped track.

Hello,

I ran a 29-10 good year with 355 gear i should went with somthing a bit higher in the gear ratio.

MT 28x10.5 ET's mounted on 15x9 draglites with a 5.5 backspace (notched frame).

28" x 9" ET Drags on cheapo steel wheels 15" x 8" with 3.5" backspace...stock gears

I'm using some Phoenix F/X slicks 10.5x28.5's with the stock gears.

Claude, What wheel width and back space? I want to try those FX's, but my M/T 28x10.5's on 10" wide/4.5 bs are real tight and I don't like using air bags to obtain clearance. Thanks, Brian

"Fuelie600", the wheels are 8" wide with a rear spacing of 3.5" . I also have airbags but they're used mainly to help launch the car straight. I must say that although ok in a straight line, these tires DO rub a little on the frame and sometimes wheel lip on a very hard launch or when turning on the return road...I think that these tires are about the biggest you can stuff under the car without doing any frame notching...Hope this helps!...

Claude ;)

I run 275/60/15 MT Drag Radials on 15x8 wheels at the track and on the street with stock size wheels & tires on the front. The car has stock gears with Moser axles and C-clip eliminators. Paul

Thanks Claude. So if you were to run no air in the bags, they would rub. When I ran the M/T 28x10.5's on 10" rims this fall, I had to put 15 psi in both bags to keep them off the fender lips.... I know that it killed my suspension movement, and affected my 60 fts. I think I will try the M/T's on my 8" rims this year so I can allow the suspension to work. Brian

Sure they do. You are limited to either a 3-3/8" backspace (tire might be close to outer wheel well lip) or 5" backspace (notched frame?) though. The 8" rims come in 4-1/2" backspaces.
