Funny thing, I was thinking about that very build this morning. I saw the write-up in a mag, and was thinking what if I won the Mega Lotto, and could build one of those Sonny Leonard Monster engines with BIG turbos. Heck there is a $million dollar$ reward waiting for the first Unlimited Hydroplane to win the Gold Cup, with automitve power. That bore spacing makes it feasable now. No one has gotten a Hydro to do much of anything with automotive power. A few have tried, though. Twin 880 inch engines with twin 88 turbos would make OVER 5,000 horsepower. That is what we made back in the mid '80's with a supercharged Rolls Griffon (2240 cid) We ran 60+psi boost and went through 150 lbs. of Nitrous, 65 gallons of 115/145 AV gas with an addative in it, 25 gallons of water methanol, and 3-4 gallons of oil, in about 5 minutes. That what it takes to go 220+mph on water. Anyone have a few millon bucks that they want to sponsor for an Unlimited Hydro with automotive power?? There would be HUGE publicity involved. I think it would work great.

im sure it would make more power if they had a bigger exhaust on that car.

You would think they could make more than 2250 hp. Pro mod hemi motors make around that with a roots blower. My guess is they need bigger turbos. It is a bad looking car though.

My buddy builds pro mod motors and more and he built a SBC with twin 82's that made 2200. I believe that motor was around 420 cubes.

His latest project is a supercharged boat motor. It's on the dyno right now and so far made 1400 hp on 91 octane pump gas. This would be a sick motor to put in a street car. Idles great and only turns 6k. Made over 1300 ft/lbs too.
