I ran a new best a couple weekends ago in the Buick. Here's a video for those interested:

86 Buick T Type - boost & juice - Video

Car has:

K&N on the MAF
Some used valve springs I picked up at a swap meet (the were about 7-10 lbs. heavier with the valves closed and pretty much the same pressure open)
RJC power plate
Adjustable waste gate rod
Straight pipe instead of cat
42 Lb. injectors and Turbo Tweak chip
Hotwired Walbro fuel pump
Mickey Thompson ET street radials
75 HP shot of nitrous

This run was on 15-16 PSI and 100 octane.

Nice.

Thank you for smacking down the Monte SS. I don't know why I enjoy it when Regals beat them down, I just do.

Jim

What size turbo?
Great run bud!!!!

Looks like you had a little trouble with the burnout? Why? My car even at 14 PSI would quickly disentegrate a pair of rear tires to thick smoke in seconds. And that's just holding the brake, no line lock.

What's your combo?

Turbo is stock. Actually, the whole car is stock (with 127,000 on it, lol) except for what I mentioned in the first post. Thanks for the compliment!

Ya, there was some stuff going on there for sure. I was on drag radials, and missed the water box a bit. I was also trying to start up my power logger at the same time so I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. Regardless though, the tires were warm enough to dead hook a 5 PSI launch on nitrous and get me a 1.64 sixty foot time.

Great Job!

Apparently I have some work to do. 12.1 @ 108 with A LOT done to the car. Just goes to show you, throwing money at'em doesn't always mean faster.

Nice launch, looks like the car was blown out of a sling shot.

The nitrous helps quite a bit, so don't get down on yourself.

The car has ran a best of 12.79 @ 103 with no nitrous.

It's a wet set up. It's not a kit, just some spare stuff I had laying around in my garage. Nothing special about it; just some solenoids, a relay, WOT switch, arming switch, and some braided line.

So what are you going to do next?

Not really sure. I was thinking about a down pipe with an exhaust cutout. That, and a torque converter lock up switch would probably put the car pretty solidly in the 11's.

This was only the second pass in the car on the bottle, so there is still some dialing in to do with it as well. My power logger scan shows some knock for about the last 100 feet of the track, so that needs to be addressed before I do much of anything else.

I could always up the shot from 75 to 100 as well.

I was also kicking around the idea of using methanol as the fuel for the nitrous kit instead of gasoline. That way, I could run stupid boost and the bottle at the same time.

If I did a methanol injection system, and put a 'T' fitting in the line just before the nozzle, I could run methanol to my fuel solenoid for the nitrous kit. That way, I could run high boost and methanol all the time, and nitrous and more methanol when I really wanted to lay the smack down. I haven't done the math, but I'm pretty sure if I double the size the fuel jet when spraying meth, I should be pretty close to where I want to be air/fuel wise.

Before I do any of that though, the knock at the big end and some kind of in car wide band will be taken care of.

Stock converter/turbo and 1.64 sixty foot is great.

I have been wondering myself if you could 't' off of the alchy system for a 50-75 hp wet nitrous system.

The problem I see is there would be a delay from when the alcohol pump comes on and reaches full pressure, unlike using the feed off of the fuel rail where you have pressure all the time. So there might be a split second when it running like a dry nitrous system. If you use it for spool, where the nitrous comes on at wot and cuts off at 15-20#, then there might be very little extra alcohol that gets injected by the nitrous system.
