Well #1376 is finally back up and running after blowing the head gasket back in April. I couldn't afford to do the heads and cam just yet so I didn't pull the engine. The oil/coolant didn't milkshake so I think for the most part everything was good. I pulled the intake, heads, oil pan etc. and cleaned everything out thouroughly...graphite everywhere. While it was apart I replaced motor mounts with HR Parts & Stuff Poly engine mounts I have had for a year or so. Installed new S/S braided turbo oil feed and drain lines and a new S/S 3" DP elbow/upper section from Steve Kaminski. While the pan was off I installed a new oil pickup tube/screen and new cork pan gasket. I gasket matched the heads and did some mild porting and polishing on the heads both intake and exhaust and also cleaned up the flanges and welds on the headers. I have a extra upper intake that I have been working on for a while and installed...ported opening with EGR passage removed and fully polished outside and a matching 63mm stock ported and half shafted throttle body that I did as well. Stripped, repainted and clear coated lower intake w/EGR block-off plate. Replaced water pump as well. Started her up last weekend with some cheap 10W30 oil and straight water...so far so good, no leaks...keeping fingers crossed for now. Going to let it run a little more and then change oil, filter and coolant this weekend. Will put Valvoline VR1 10W30 Racing oil back in and fresh coolant. Also picked up a 5 gal drum of VP M1 this morning as well. Still need to replace my fuel pump with my new Walbro replacement and also need to install my new Data Logger before I turn the boost back up!!!
Real nice to have it running again...definietely going to be a little more careful this time and make sure my tune is spot on before I beat on it
couple pics of some things I did while it was apart...
