I always liked them....and then I saw the Mercury Marauder...and I like that car better.

yeah yeah....it's a Ford.... ;-)

I like them, but would prefer a Caddy DTS 00'-05' or a Merc Maur. first.

Cool cars, but the collectability keeps the prices up for what you get.
00'DTS is 300hp, more reliable, and a LOT more plush ---

Yep, this one is mine.

I got a super clean 96 with 6?k miles on it I will move for $11,500:biggrin:

Damn, thats a good price for the Impy. I would bring the truck and trailer to pick that one up. I would probably have to sleep in it when I got it home. Old lady

Damn, that sounds like a nice Impy. I would get the truck and trailer out to come and get that one. But I'd probably have to sleep in it after the wife saw it.

Id take the imp over a marauder any day if the week!!! They just dont look anywhere near as cool...When i see a marauder i still think cop car vs the impala looks like an impala!!!

I bought one brand new in 95. Overall the car was nice but some of the issues convinced me to dump the car.

The Good:
Nice looks
Nice ride
Decent power
Lots of room

The bad:
Rear lower control arms cracked.
Carpet was terrible quality.
No padding or cushion in trunk area to keep anything back there from denting the body panels from the inside.
Interior quality was marginal. Componants all fade at different rates creating a mismatch look.
position of the differential puts the tires non concerntric to the wheel well opening.
Bland and very dated looking dash arrangement.

I drove it for about 30K miles and dumped it. I would only get another one if the price was reasonable. Unfortunately, everyone that I see that tries to sell one is asking way more that what the true value really is.

Oh, one last thing. It's good for 138 mph stock if you fold in the mirrors.

Well now that everyone else has put their .02 in I'll put mine in. You're in high school and looking at going to college. Get a cheap car that will get good gas mileage. The cool factor may not be there but you have at least 4 years to go in school and believe me, you aint gonna have any money to spare. The better the gas mileage the less you will be spending.

I dont know... 3500 for an ss impala seems like a steal. I want to get good gas mileage which is why I was looking at the diesel oldsmobile, or a 2003 hyundai my friend wants to sell me, even thought it has a rod knock. Or I might get a corvair sedan or a 1962/63 corsa turbo corvair.

Diesel Olds? Hyundai with a rod knock? Corvair? Dude, you need a good bitch slap to wake yourself up. NONE of those choices make ANY sense. You need a reliable common car that you can get parts for. Around here you can pick up a nice low mileage granny Buick LeSaber for less than $2k that will run for ever. Cheap to insure too. Not much "cool" factor but so what. At this point in your life saving money needs to be a priority. Bet I sound like your father.:)

For 3500 you should be able to get a decent used (sorry guys) Honda or Nissan that will do you right. Just maintain it.

I'm sure we both sound like his father. My daily is an 89 Olds 88 and I just turned 213 K on it. It aint pretty but it gets up to 28 MPG on the highway and is so frigging reliable I'm gonna hate replacing it when it does die.:frown:

If you can get an impy for $3500 buy it!!!!!!! Take care of it and you can always sell it for more...thats still being responsible with your $$$ thats better that buyin (sorry charlie) a $2500 chit box that will be worth $500 at most when ur done with it plus the cool factor ,the easy to work on factor(if you happen to need to fix it in the dorm room pk lot), the you can pull waaaay more chicks with it factor (and have room for them")..

Not to mention "but it got good gas mileage" will look really good on ur tombstone when some soccer mom yellin at her kids runs you over in her F950 cause shes not payin attention and flattens ur gas saver like a used beercan!!!!
