I'm building a turbo'd 4-cylinder for our '71 Yenko Vega (street/strip), and would like an auto with overdrive, and the 200-4R seems like a natural fit...I'm looking at *hopefully* 500hp with the boost turned up, and the car should be 2800 pounds or less...what's it gonna take to get a 200-4R tranny/converter to hold up? Any advice??

More than your going to make with that 4 popper. Just need to stick some of the good hard parts into it and a real convertor and it should be happy for years. I have only worked with CK trans. Chris is a good guy and can make it right for you.

thanks for recommending us.in that car our 1649.00 stage 1 will be fine .the converter stall will depend on engine operating rpm.we also sell the parts and a manual if you want to build it yourself.the engine will love the reduced recipricating weight of the 2004r.give me a ring if you need further assistance.

Wow, quick replies...thanks! I don't know the exact power range right now, but will have an idea before too long, hopefully...I plan on giving this "Drag Week" thing a shot. I won't win it, but hope to make a decent showing, with an original Yenko car, something most folks don't see too often. I originally thought 4L60E, but lightweight and simplicity of the 200 won me over...only thing I'm worried about is getting the tv setup correctly...

Stupid question for ya: what bellhousing does the 200-4R? is it the normal Chevy piece?? I need to get an adapter squared away...

99.9% of the cases are chevy buick olds pontiac caddilac universal type so you have nothing to worry about.tv cable is simple too

Sorry, another goofy question...this is my first serious turbo car...so will I need a trans brake to spool up the turbo, or just footbrake it? Any pros/cons to either?? The car was originally a 4-speed, but I think an auto will work better with the turbo at the track...
