2004r thrust washers

The thrust washers that came with my kit are all steal with no copper face on them. Is this how they should be? (These are the ones with the bent tongs) Also does the 2004r only use 2 thrust washer with the bent tongs, thats all that came in my kit?

Reason I ask is when I built my th350 their were a ton of thrust washers with the bent tongs that all had a smooth copper front to them.

I am no expert, but I had same question about the copper, when I did my 2004r, and was told that "as long as I had one in place" I would be ok ..... so I went with what was provided in kit ......

I had a couple of issues, but nothing to do with the thrust washers.

What you see is a coating over the steel backed bronze on the washers. If you were to dig into the washer you would discover the bronze.
