How do you keep the sender seal intact if you run a wire through the top of it? Rubber grommets and/or sealant will not work. The bulkhead connector assembly is certified pressure tested. Our G7x-BCA has upgraded wiring which runs from the sender connector to the new bulkhead connector.

Says you.
Good sales pitch.

Racetronix does make great stuff for our cars, and his statement could also be viewed as safety concern....:)
That being said, there shouldn't be an pressure in the tank between the gas cap and the tank vent. I still would feel more comfortable with a proper bulkhead though.

I take difference to the absoluteness of the statement "WILL NOT WORK".
When I know Racetronix doesn't even have one of these pumps, none the less a installed one in a TR.
He got his terminal measurements from me.
He just added some ring terminals to an already existing product and is only concerned about profit.

Although I can appreciate the DIY person trying to save a buck and putting their ideas out there for all to benefit from... when it comes to fuel, I won't cut corners.

+1

Very well said! Although this pump swap seemed to work for some it all boils down to TIME. Like iv'e said before "Time will tell" if this pump is worth the extra money and work. With the postings of several people with issues after doing this Pump swap it looks like the bugs are still yet to be worked out!!

$200+ for a pump
+ extra $ for a extra harness = Almost at external pump costs...

Apparently you did cut corners.
You attempted to run this pump with the puny factory wiring. On Jan 5th post #188 you inquired about Racetronix harness, and today you tell us you didn't see a thread about the upgrade.
IMO you knowingly gambled and lost.

Yes I did! I looked on their site and didn't find the new harness listed.
Yes I read about your DIY upgrade; however, as I stated already, yours was not an option for me. Cold weather and snow set in and the harness was forgotten about until the pump quit the other day while I was giving the car it's weekly run in the garage. No down time lost or anything damaged, just glad it crapped out now instead of in the spring on the side of the road. As far as "gambling", I don't think that's an appropriate way to look at it. The Supra pump in general was new territory for most of us...full of unknowns. The pump itself is tried and true but how it was going to work with the TR's was yet to be discovered. Who was to really know if the factory harness was or was not going to be adequate??? Who was to really know if we were going to have fuel return issues with the OE sized lines/regulator??? For what that's worth, maybe the OE filter does not flow enough for this pump and is now causing a severe in-line restriction??? Until these things have been on the road for a while there wil be questions to be addressed.
I'm not sure why, but I sense this issue has become personal to you for some reason:confused: We are all just trying to work through something new, don't loose a head gasket over it. Cheers!

I wouldn't be concerned about flow restriction and the filter stuff since TRs have been running double pumps for many years now.
AND I DO take it personally as the thread starter, I am not profiting here--- not selling these pumps or harnesses.
But there is the credibility issue...call it pride or what not, but I do take pride in my work and I wanted to share with the TR community.
I let everyone know back in Nov that the factory wiring was too small.
I offered an easy solution, a vendor made a harness to remedy the small wire.
You "forgot" and then post pictures of a burnt harness and people think "OMG that Supra pump NOT a good idea...."
New territory comes with responsibility.

Just because I post a few pics of my burnt harness does not mean this pump is no good. Actually I'm quite happy with it and have preached its usage to other TR owners. I'm sure you are full of pride...as am I. However, there is no need to get yourself all worked up over this matter. You sounded the whistle in November and we thank you for that. You came up with a solution for those interested in using it...thanks again. Now it's time to let people make good or bad decisions to use your idea or buy a kit from a vendor. For me it's option #2.

Later!

Well stand by...I have something else in development the DIYer will LOVE!

Ihave been trying to figure how to run the 10 ga wires into the tank & my son suggested I use a an bulkhead fitting.
I'll be purchasing a fitting tomorrow. Still having trouble figuring how to seal the wires in the fitting. I might use a gas tank repair/sealer, anybody have any other ideas.
The factory oring has deterioated beyond reuse.

Would something like this 4 wire bulkhead connector w/female plug and new pins and help you ? Run two wires to each connector on the pump ? Just a thought .

Now you've got me curious.

What was that old saying about necessity.

I am certain it will be nothing less than kick arse and of utmost quality...looking forward to seeing what you have to offer!!

Standing by...

Well after a late night of R&D it was apparent i have to go back to the drawing board. It wasnt a complete failure as it worked; but it was way too complicated for public release.....:frown:

How do you get a hold of someone from Racetronix? I've sent 3 emails to their sales department and no response???

I have a recipie for a REAL nice and slick set up for an out of the tank pump. One of the 1000-2000hp pumps from summit. Slick way to mount it up and everything. Plus these pumps can be either in the tank or out of the tank. The method I have to install is out of the tank.....the way i figure can never be to careful with fuel. HTere is even a point to where the good walbro 340s get a bit weezy.

Gave me an idea to not use the an bulkhead fitting.

I drilled the original fitting for the 2 # 10 wires - ground & hot & am sliding the fuel level line in the hole for the ground. I'll seal it with either gas tank leak sealer or JBweld. As close to stock as I can keep it - still has original wheels & the Scanmaster is the only gauge not appearing original.

That's about the same idea I had. I was looking at it today and it appears that two 10g wires and the level wire will just fit through with enough room to seal it. I would think that JB Weld would hold it...

Still waiting for Racetronix to get back with me:mad:
