What he said. :p

There are exhaust couplers if you need them, most muffler shops will open up one end of a 3" straight tube or both ends if needed to create a coupler slip fit for a few bucks if not free.

I doubt the Pypes system would be any different than the rotted hooker, should have a stock type GM flange if it's made for a Buick.

At least the ones pictured on their website did.

A test pipe is the same thing as a dump pipe without the side port, it goes between the downpipe and the exhaust system flange in place of a cat, just like a dump pipe which has the additional side outlet for a cutout or uncapped open exhaust if you loosen it manaully.

If you are buying a converter back system from Pypes in stainless it has the GM flange already on it per their website.

You should buy the proper dump pipe in the correct length to fit between the downpipe from G body and the Pypes exhaust and buy the electric cutout to fit the dump pipe side port.

Otherwise you will need to fit the cutout from Badlandz onto the G body downpipe and make sure the length is proper to the pypes stock location flange and then have a GM flange welded onto that 3" cutout pipe.

I did not see a badlandz cutout with a GM flange on it on that website, if there was one it MIGHT fit those products.

Proper length of the dump pipe assembly is important whatever you use with mixed parts, perhaps G body has a dump pipe to fit their downpipe then a more traditional cutout assembly like the one Mark sells would probably fit that dump pipe.

It's always going to take some measuring and engineering to buy 3 separate parts and mate them up for an exhaust sytem.

Learned that the hard way with trying to fit a high flow random tech. cat. on the car with a TDHP. In place of a test pipe, ie. hollow THDP 3" cat.

I know what a dump pipe is... I'm already running one. I know what an electric cut out is, and where to put it. lol. Quit telling me the obvious guys. I've been around cars a little bit. :)
I know what slip fits into what, and where. My question is, since noone has mentioned this YET, is whether or not, there are funneled tubing couplers, that I can slip fit onto one part of my system. Do I have to run a 3'' dump with a 3'' DP? NO! Why would I? All I'd have to do is find one of these funneled couplers, and bridge the gap with one of those.

That was my question though. I have a choice. I can either use one of these for the gap between the DP and the dump, or to bridge the gap between the dump and the start of the actual exhaust tubing. QUIT MENTIONING FLANGES!! THERE AREN'T GOING TO BE ANY!!!! WHY? CUZ I SAID SO THAT'S WHY LOL. WHY? BECAUSE THE CUTOUT DOESN'T COME WITH ONE!!!!

SO.... my question was posed, to find out, what others have done, and if there's any merit, to couple the DP to the dump, or the dump to the exhaust tubing... You know I have a choice right?? I could order the dump in 2.5'' or 3''.

I just wanted to find out what you guys have already done, and if there's already an established place to buy the funneled coupler for cheap. Ya see where i'm going with this?

I don't think any of us know where to get a "funneled coupler" from. I don't think anyone has ever used one. The typical DP/test pipe dump/dual exhaust system consists of a (1)Downpipe- Bolts to the turbo and slips into the test pipe. (2)A test pipe, either with or without a dump.( Usually covered by a plate, this is where your electric cut out wil go.) Slips over the DP end and the back of it bolts to the dual exhaust flange. (3) Finally, the actual dual exhaust pipe system that usually flows into separate mufflers and out the back.
I will try to attach some photos of the typical components. Hope this helps...

Isn't that the Tinmans hat from Wizard of OZ? ...."..if I only had a brain..."

Unfortunately that "funneled coupler", errr funnel, is pretty much what the exhaust is gonna look like.

So you are gonna hack off the GM flange the Pypes system comes with?

That's gonna leave you with two welded together 2.5" exhaust pipes with the middle cut out of them, I doubt any "funnel" is gonna fit that.

Please explain how you plan on fitting one 3" dump or one 2.5" dump to (2) 2.5" pipes with a flange on them, and if they don't have the flange you still need to couple to (2) 2.5" pipes somehow?

Ditch that cheesy cutout and all your problems will be solved. :)

Or weld a flange on it to fit the exhaust system as designed for a Buick.

Really. :)

The flange is much more important as a coupling and hanging spot for the exhaust system than some generic cutout.

And you don't want to go 3" to 2.5" single pipe either between the downpipe and the cutout.

Why build a restriction into the exhaust system just to be different?

I'm done and I understand your problem now. :)

Most of us have parts that actually are designed for or will fit the car relatively easily.
