Hey guys, im putting in that powerstroke intercooler and just ran into some problems, or one at least, the intercooler has 3 inch outlets, and the pipes are 2.5 inches in diameter so i got 2.5 inch to 3 inch silicone adapter hoses from south east turbo performance. they are reinforced with those fibers and are really tough, the 3 inch end wont fit over the intercooler inlet and outlet. its too small, more like the 3 inch of the hose was measured outside diameter not inside, so it needs to be an extra 1/8th of an inch in diameter. How can i stretch it over the hole to fit? heat it in the microwave??? :D please help, i cant afford another 2 week downtime waiting for another 60 dollars worth of hoses. thanks

I would try to boil some water and let the 3" end sit in the water. If you have some window cleaner that goes on as a foam that works well to lubricate the hoses.

you think that in boiling water it will expand enough to fit? i tried lubing it up, its to small for that to work. I just hope that i can heat it and make it expand, id ont want it to be like some of that plastic that like, shrinks 10X when you get it hot. then i would really be in a bind. is there any chemical that quickly soaks in and softens the silicone? like mineral spirits or somethin, i could soak it, then hook everything up, and dont get on it hard for another few days till it shrinks again.
thanks

I just put a radiator in my v8 car and it had a bigger inlet. We let the hose soak in the boiling water for about 5 min. and used the foam window cleaner and it went right on. I spent about a half hour trying and had gave up until i tried the hot water.

ok, ill go try the boiling water and see how it works out, lets hope it works. thanks for the advice, ill keep you updated,
