That's my current set up on this car bought like that am not happy with the spool of th line I was thinkin maybe a bigger stall ?? What do you guys think:confused:

I have run just about every garrett 61 mm compressor with just about every available turbine out there and they all easily spool with a 3000 stall or less with the Garrett housing. 60-1 with 69 trim, 60-1 with 76 trim large and small shaft, e and s covers, and gt35r compressor with 62 trim ex. All spool extremely fast. I run 9.5" ptc converters fwiw. All the above were/are journal turbos. The Garrett housing makes a huge difference when the converter is borderline.

I agree with the Garrett housing spooling faster than a Precision, but also how do you KNOW that converter you have is actually a 3200 stall?

The stock converters in GN's have varied from less than 2000 to about 2800 in unmolested cars years ago.

There were various companies that supplied GN with converters which is why you can see different D5 markings on them.

You know where this is going, the aftermarket suppliers we now use all have their own definition and method to determine "rated" stall, and this makes the "converter stall" mess/definition even worse.

Our "method" like most, try a different converter, or have it re-stalled, until you find what works best for your combination. :)

PTC is the best we have worked with since they are able to get very close the first time, and if not, Dusty or Chris will offer you one free re-stall. :)

Check the rpm at 0-1# of boost to determine what the stall really is. Some will call them 3200 when they will only stall 2400.

Check the rpm with a scan tool, not the factory tach. I have had people thinking they had a 3400 stall that wouldn't spool a TA-49 only to find out they were using the stock tach:biggrin:

Get back with us with what you find and we can go from there.

I was having the same problem with my GT6157 turbo.I had a 10" 3,200 stall. It was hard for the engine to over come the converter tightness to get above 5-7#s of boost.I sent the converter to PTC and told them my problem, they did something to it(i wont say what)and it works great now, still the same stall just looser.

If my housing is the cause where do I get a new garret housing from guys?

This is unlikely but you would need to send out a stock housing and have it machined.
