Pulling My Motor In The Next Couple Of Weeks And Want To Build A 500+ Hp Motor At The Wheels.right Now Its Bone Stock With H/d Springs And A Double Roller Timing Chain. I Have A T64e Turbo And A Fuel System To Support It. Just Woundering What You Guys Thought Is The Best Bang For The Buck Or Just Outright The Best Combination For That Matter.
Aluminum Heads? Cam And Valvetrain Setup? Std Bore Or Oversized? Girdle Or No Gridle, Headers Or Std Headers. Thanks For All The Help In Advance.

Thanks Donny

Read my sig. You can get it done with the 64 and a 210 or smaller cam. Tune is more important than anything. Id get steel caps minimum on the shortblock. Aluminum heads are not needed. Good iron heads are needed. Stock headers that are opened up to match the heads are plenty

doing it on a stock longblock here.

6776dbb, cottoms fmic, 60's ,tt chip, 70/70/pwr plate, 110oct and 28psi lots of other supporting mods but 100% stock high mile longblock. all in the tune !!!

I will be sure to post when I drive over the crankshaft

It can be done 100 ways. if your doing it yourself read if not just call one of out vendors who also works on them plenty of guys here that can tell you what works and get it on & tunned up

where are you located? I would find the nearest engine guru from this board and let him do his thing. I have read on here more times than I can count on supposed local engine gurus not building engines right.

It will not take much for 500HP. I think I am close to 600 with a stock motor. My best MPH has been 125.8 at 3600lbs with a turbo slightly smaller than yours. Granted mine will break eventually. But I would say

210 roller cam
ported stock heads
girlde or billet caps

plus whatever else. But I would find the nearest Buick guru from this board and see what he recomends. My $.02.

Let us know what you decide to do

Im located in long Island NY. I was thinking Merkel race engines but not sure. If i send it out i just want what i pay for and whats expected, and unfortuantly thats hard to get these days cause everybody is a so called pro!! Not pointing any fingers to anyone on this board i just have very bad luck if any at all geting what i pay for.

I don't think you will get what you pay for at Merkel and I don't know if their are any good Machine shops for our cars on long island you my have to travel to CT or NJ..

Try Bill Anderson or Bobby at RPE. I thought Bobby did motors for Jack Cotton. So you could try calling Cotton as well. I have not heard much about Merkel. But if i was in the Northeast part of the country I would use RPE or Anderson. Both have proven track records.

ck is pretty close find him in tranny section. He builds a nice trans so there are some hi power cars in the area I bet he knows who is building them.

How about the guy that took over Dynotech in LI-any good? I ve heard he s very knowledgeable.

4.1,ported heads and intake,218/218 cam,60# injectors,stock headers,your 64 turbo,3200 stall.

That combo should do 500hp/500tq at the wheels at lower boost.

I had that combo with a 63 turbo and 83# injectors, all else the same and it made 500/500 at the wheels on 20#.Ran 7.2's at the 1/8 track on 16# and 93 octane,6.8's @ 20# with 110 in the tank mixed with 93.

BTW no girdle or caps, flat tappet cam.

Want To Build A 500+ Hp Motor At The Wheels.

Your object shoulds pretty close to what I was after - 650 hp at the crank with 18-20#'s boost, and to to be strong enough to never break. Campbell Automotive - 780-452-3535 came up with the combination and built my engine. The highlights are stroker crank, forged pistons (9:1), forged rods, girdle, billet caps, ported gn1 alum heads, roller cam & rockers, ported maniford, pt67 turbo, precision FMIC

87 GN- TE60/.63 garrett hsg, champion irons, champion intake, 206 roller, 60's, TT chip, Razor's alky, Ls1 maf/T+, Mease SLIC, THDP, Janis transmission, Precision 3200 5 disc l/u converter, 516rwhp/555rwt @23psi, 562rwhp/578rwt converter locked, assembled and tuned at KDK Performance Orlando Fl.
