I currently have both turbos and I'm trying to figure out which one I want to run on a 254ci production block 4.1....Thoughts?

what were your concerns? Both will be able to overpower the production 4.1 if you turn it up

The 67/65 has the billet comp wheel and the newer exhaust wheel, it massacres the 45A. Replace 67/75 with cast 72/76 and 45 with 66/76 to get what's really inside making power.

is this a serious question? I am confused....billet/dbb VS non billet non dbb plus the same size roughly in turbos, this is not a question which is better. New turbo tech will always prevail when comparing a roughly same size new turbo to an old one.

just my 2cents

No concerns here just thoughts....

I think the 45a will make more power than the 6765 but will the 4.1 spool the 45a as fast as I'd want....

I have the cast 6765 dbb, s-cover......

I don't think you would have a problem spooling either one if you have the right converter and a good tune. Whats the whole build cam, compresion ratio, heads etc...?

**Budget Production 4.1 254ci
**3.4 stroke
**Irons, ported, big valves, I dont have the numbers in front of me but they will out flow an off the shelf champion iron, matched intake.
**Comp ratio is right around 8.59
**204/214 flat tappet
**3400# street car

Have 2 convertors to choose from...an AC 3600 non L/U & a PTC 3k LU

Ah, you got this a few years ago then, well that changes things a bit. The cast 67 and the 66 are pretty much a wash, but the 65 is good for at least 10hp over the 76 so considering the 67 is DBB and will make a little more power in the mid range, I'd...

Ditch both and get a Billet 67/68 and lay down some 9's. :D

Has anyone have real testing on the billet 67 or are you guys just assuming it works good because of what you heard? I know the 71 works but have not seen any results from a 67. I installed one on a car and for the boost level its at, I honestly expected a little more. I have seen many 45a's in the low 10's but haven't seen a billet 67 there yet.

Yes, I've seen plenty of info that says Billet 67 will MASSACRE any cast 66 or 67 wheel. I've posted an AMS dyno graph last year that showed the Billet 62/65 making a tad more top end power than the cast 67/76 and a lot more mid with a better spool.

I've said this for years, if you want to see how new turbos out perform their older counterparts, look into the Import world, those customers are spoiled and demand before and afters. So to sell those new, got to have, turbos, shops dyno them.

I'll throw out another link showing the potential of the Billet 67/65, look at the date of the first post by AMS BTW. They even show the dyno graph of a different run they did of the Billet 67/62 so customers can see how the smaller exhaust wheel didn't spool faster, yet lost upper mid and top end power making the Billet 67/62, a pointless use of your $$.

AMS GT950R / Billet 67/65 is OUT! 830WHP Capable T3 Framed Turbo!! - evolutionm.net

45A = Not even close to Billet 67/65.

You know...I don't give a crap about the billet turbo's as this is not what I've inquired about. Thanks for taking my thread off in what ever direction you see fit.....

If you have any real world, 1st hand experience with a TE45a or a cast wheel 6765 dbb, S-cover please share but I'm not interested as to what you've read on the internet about other turbo's.
