Ok, Ive done a search and havent found the exact answers Im looking for. I have a friend who is converting his '84 GN to a '87 Intercooled motor. He has a 1987 GN Motor complete minus the wiring harness, maf, a/c compressor, power steering pump, alternator.

What all is gonna be needed to do the swap?

I figure on a '87 harness/ecm, maf, dp/exhaust. What else is gonna not interchange to the '87 set up? The a/c, ps pump, alternator need changed also?

Thanks in advance for any help!:)

Throttle cable, heater core is different, but can be used, AC compressor, power steering pump, alternator, harness. I have everything to do the swap minus a harness. There are some minor parts that are different in the 87, but the 84 stuff can be used.

The above post sums it up! One thing I did on mine, I could not find a tap the right size for my oil return line so I just drilled the hole slightly bigger and used a retaining nut on the back with loc-tite. I laid cloth inside the valley to catch any shavings then carefully removed the cloth. After that I took a magnet and made sure that there were no shavings inside. The cruise is the same but the throttle cable going to it is different.

You can do the oil return to the front of the block or you can pull the oil pan and weld on a bung to the front passenger side like I did. Also leave your hydroboost brakes unless youve converted to vacum. If you stick with hydroboost you can use your stock pressure lines and the stock 87 pump. Just remove the hard metal line off the 87 pump and then you can hook your stock 84 line up at both ends by just giving the line a slight twist. If you have any other questions just let me know as I just finished mine up a few months ago.

Also 87 tranny and oil dipstick and tube are different. If you havent started rounding up the parts on your own I would suggest buying the conversion kit the Bob (Intercooled88s) does because for one price which I think is $1600 or so he will get you every single part you need and ship it to you.
