86 GN what to do?

About 4 years ago my son bought an 86 GN theft recovery vehicle title. we figured it would be a good canidate for hot rod .Well now 4 years and lots of bucks later it is still not painted and he has lost interest.It has a lot I mean a lot of good stuff on it. I know we will never get out of it whats been put in it{Approx.15k} The big question is sell it or let it set and see if we really do finish it? Parting it out is not an option too much blood,sweat and arguments for that!

If you have lost interest, sell the car for the most you can get and figure the loss of money as the price of an education in the "don't do that again" file.

Nothing worse than to have a project sit to remind the wife/son/daughter and everyone else about how much money/time is sitting there rotting away. The worst thing for a car is sitting from non-use. Everything goes down hill. Even all the new stuff you have done.

You "may" take the money you get for the sale of the car and purchase another "investment" that will make you money instead of eat money. You notice I said "may". If nothing else, take the money and pay off any consumer debt you have. That's a better use of the money than sitting in a car nobody likes and does not use.

If you have not finished the car by now, you are not going to finish it.

Get it gone now!

We all lose interest in our projects. Let it sit for a few months and come back to it if you have the space to keep it and don't need the money. When a car is gutted and stripped, it's easy to be overwhelmed and not see the light at the end of the tunnel. YOu could also lower your expectations. Pay someone for a cheap-o paint job put it back together and drive it. It won't be "restored" and may not be pretty but it should still be fast.

If you decide it was a big mistake and there in no longer interest in cars, sell it. If he's still a car guy, chances are interest will return.

Happens all the time. I am a ALL makes/Models guy. im not really brand specific. But I was restoring a 69 RoadRunner a few years ago...after 7 years and about well $15K I was getting fed up and well I was looking for something that I would get out more to drive for most of the summer not just occasional weekends. So I sold it at a slight loss(should have waited for now and woulda made$7,000 instead of lost $2,000 ) I was actually greatfull to be out from under it! Now im thinking again of getting a GN but to do that I have to sell/trade a 73 Dodge Dart Sport(Demon) 340 car. So projects and interests come and go it just happens. I love the GN's becuase they were THE car when I was growing up(graduated in 87) and well with the Fuel Injection A/C power options are just better "drivers" than the old muscle cars are...

I really wanna finsh it. It is my fault that it isn't done and I accept full responsibility for it. The car wasn't that bad when we bought it, as a matter of fact it was the car of the month on GNTTYPE the month before we got it.
The plan was do all the modifications and drive it awhile. Well after we got all the go faster parts on it the weather had changed. So I figured what the heck let's take it apart and paint it. well now it has actually been about 6 years and the car has not been out of the driveway since the mods and my son has purchased his own home and and is having a ball with his SRT 4 {a car he can drive} and all the other projects with my other son's car I am just having a hard time accepting the fact that this maybe the first project that I have failed at! :redface: Maybe I should try and sell it and see what happens?
