i though the t types where turbo
WOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA............
Hold on a minute. T-Type designates Turbo regal. all T-types have the 3.8 v6 with turbo. thats why they had the name "T-Type". all of those cars should have the VIN number 7 as the (i think seventh digit of vin) which designates the Turbo car. someone needs to post some factual info on this to make me believe otherwise..

I don't have "Facts" other than my absolute word. Some T-types DID in fact come with the wimpy 307V8.
I know this as absolute, unwaivering fact... as I worked as a Service Advisor at a Buick dealership when those cars were still coming in on car carriers.
I remember specifically seeing exactly ONE brand spanking new gray T-type roll through the shop with the V8 motor in it... and thinking WTF??? This was at Baldwin Buick in Shillington, PA around '86/'87. (It's now Penske Buick/GMC)
I think the only other one I've seen is a green one that ran through Ebay not long ago.
To add... I believe the vin code was "Y", as it used the olds 307 "Y" engine with a 4bbl Rochester quadrajet on it. 1987 was also the last year for a carb.

I dont have papers to prove this but i've been breathin G-body's since i was a little boy.
so if someone has facts they can post links to to either back me up.... or to teach me new tricksplease do so. i believe whole hearted that what i typed above is correct.

Correct, the 307 Olds used in the Buick Regals had a vin code of Y. The "hi-po" 307 had a vin code of "9" and was used in the 442. Also '87 was the last year for the Regal to use a carb; the 307 engine itself continued to be a carbured 4 bbl until it ended in the 1990 model run.
You sure about this? What trans did you get? My understanding a 305 would not work well with a 2.19 gear not to mention I've never heard of a 2.19. I know the Olds 307, which was a grunt engine could come with a 2.14 gear w/o overdrive and a 2.41 if overdrive was used. Does your engine have the oil filler tube up front?
